How often is PN fixed by fixing a contracted pelvic floor?

Post by pubh12 »

I have a tight pelvic floor, it's not super painful, but its very contracted. I don't know if I have PN but I read that many people who do have it have a tight floor. Mostly my problems are ED related, but I get shooting pain in the taint area and penis.

The question is, what is causing the contracted pelvic floor? For me, it was because the pudendal nerve was compressed between ligaments causing pudendal neuralgia pain. The nerve pain caused the pelvic floor muscles to go into spasm and become contracted.

Some people feel like their tight pelvic floor is caused by anxiety and the tight pelvic floor impinges on the pudendal nerve, causing the pain of pudendal neuralgia.

It's kind of the chicken and the egg question. Which came first -- the chicken or the egg? Did your tight pelvic floor cause PN pain or did your irritated nerve cause the tight pelvic floor....

The key is to get to the root of the problem and treat that. If the ligaments are the problem, you have to fix that. If anxiety is the problem, you have to deal with that. Or there can be other triggers/causes. You can even have multiple causes or triggers. For instance, if I had not started a weightlifting program, my ligaments would not have become strained and I wouldn't have developed PNE. The combination of my musculoskeletal genetics and the fact that I started lifting weights were both factors in what caused PNE.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
