So me and my pt think the obterator internus is putting pressure on the pudendal nerve causing alot of stinging. We dont know if the nerve is actually entrapped. Does anyone's burning get worse after stretching?

Hi Please,

I don't know that I ever intentionally stretched once I knew I had pn, but when I would bend over sharply (which was rare, because I have a bad back), I would sometimes get a huge jolt of pain in an area on the left and a few inches above the pelvic floor. I now think that was the SS-ST ligament area where my nerve was compressed. I think bending over stretched the nerve and created that jolt of pain. So if your nerve is compressed, stretching is not a good idea, because it stretches the nerve---the nerve can't glide with you the way it should. But, even if your nerve is not compressed, I think exercises that use the pelvic floor muscles can create a flare.

Stretching increases my pain significantly. I do not bend over or sit or do any movements that would pull on the nerve. The only exercise I do is walking.

Before my PNE surgery, stretching caused a pain flare-up the following day or a few hours later. It didn't cause immediate pain. Sitting caused immediate pain.

I had decompression surgery over 3 months ago, I just started PT. I did my stretches yesterday morning for the first time. With one particular stretch, I felt burning immediately. It lasted all day and is still going on.
