Antidepressant

Post by Grammy »

Does there seem to be one particular antidepressant that is most useful for pain and the mental anguish of pain. I personally have taken Effexor xr for a long time. Recently it has been increased in dosage from 75 mg to 225 mg. I do not notice a great improvement with the increase. My dr has done a new gene testing that will help her to know what medication would or should work for me the best. The test helps with all antidepressant meds, pain meds, and folic acid. I will get the results from her in two weeks and will let you all know the results.

Hi Grammy have you tried Cymbalta. It's the new version of Effexor. Did you have your appointment at the pain clinic yet?

Thank you Sadie for the post on antidepressants. Scary thoughts but I know personally they have done nothing for me and my pain anxiety

Grammy, have you tried nortriptyline or amitriptyline? Those are often prescribed before anything else, so I'm guessing you have. But if not, it may be worth a try. They are antidepressants, but they also help with nerve pain and they should help you sleep.
