Hello,
I haven been reading this forum for a while but first time posting. I am almost 5 months with debilitating pain symptomatic of pudendal Neuralgia and very possibly entrapment. What are the best diagnostic tools available and the best treatment- if Entrapment is there how do you assess where it is- he says he uses Endo cavity prob for assessing when the Entrapment is?I have an appointment for Eric De Bishop in France- who has had a positive outcome from a visit with him? I am in hospital st the moment as my pain became so severe last week. I am almost 5 weeks post hysterectomy- I live in Irelanf and there some to be nobody specialist in this area here. What is the best way to getting an urgent appointments with Nantes Team & Eric Bautrant? I am in so much pain and have 3 young children who need me— the messages on this site whilst useful seem really old.

Kind regards,

Elaine

Welcome to the forum, Elaine. I think a patient's history sometimes combined with a nerve block are typically used to diagnose pn. With a nerve block, a doctor injects anesthesia near the pudendal nerve, and if that relieves the pain, it is likely pn. The home page on this site lists a range of treatment options. Usually patients start with lifestyle changes, physical therapy, and medication (e.g., my first medication was amitriptyline). It sounds like your pain is severe. Is it painful when you sit? That is one of the most typical symptoms. The home page also has contact information for doctors who treat pn (the List of Doctors link), and the list includes Nantes team, so I think you could (or someone at the hospital could) start by calling their number. I hope you are able to get in touch with someone who can treat you. Keep us posted.

If you live near Dublin you might want to try seeing Maeve Whelan, a PT who specializes in treating patients with pelvic pain. You can find her contact info at the following link:
