Obturator internus grade 2 Tear??

Post by Kimchee »

Hi there,

Does anyone know anything about tearing the Obturator Internus? I just had an MRI with contrast and surrounding tissues and they discovered a grade 2 tear. Doctor says it is treatable with Platelet Poor Plasma and has good results with this. He said he has not seen many grade 2 tears and I have no idea how I did it either. I am not a high contact athlete. I swim and hike. Can anyone give me any info on this?

Thanks,
Kimchee

Hi Kimchee,

I have not heard of an obturator internus tear. Do you feel like the OI tear is the source of your pain? I guess you would want to compare whether the pain you are experiencing coincides with where the tear is. Is it on the same side? Does a pelvic exam elicit pain in that area?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
