Irregular Menstrual Bleeding

Post by Faith »

Do any of you ladies struggle with irregular menstrual bleeding since dealing with your PN battle? I have been having spotting/really light bleeding, but no real period. The last few months I might have a day or two of a "real period", but mostly very light bleeding and this month is even worse. I was always one who had a lot of cramping and bled pretty heavily. I am beginning to wonder if this might be a side effect of the Neurontin for me. I have been steadily increasing the dose and just this week went up to 3200mg daily. Or maybe it just a result of chronic pain and stress? Any thoughts?

-3/10 sacral/sitting pain began after SIJD manipulation
-Progressive widespread pain- central sensitization
-PT, meds, injections, botox, ESWT = debilitated.
-5/12 Potter MRI - scarring of left ST, coccygeous & posterior alcock
-12/12 - left FAI/labral hip tear surgery
2014-2019 managed w/ gabapentin, massage, and lifestyle mod
2020 - big flare up

Not being nosy, but what is your age? Could you be perimenopausal? Also, stress does absolutely affect periods. I was laid off work for about 6 months and started a very stressful job. Shortly after starting the job, I had a period for a solid month, then didn't have one for 6 months, then had another one that lasted 1 1/2 months. My hubby swears that my job has contributed to my PN. (this all was pre-PN, but I'm also very suspicious that my PN might not have an endometriosis component, maybe it's the scarring??)

I sure hope I am not perimenopausal. I'm only 29. But I guess anything is possible. I figure it's probably stress though. But I am really starting to wonder about this Neurontin. I first started having the light periods when I went on Neurontin and the higher I go the less of a period I have.

That is interesting - I did a quick google and didn't really find anything. Are you on anything else?
