Has anyone ever used Belladonna & Opium Suppositories for pain control?
Or a Vaginal Diazepam Suppository?
I came across this infomation in an article titled "Pudendal Neuralgia" written by Dr Hiber.
Pain Meds in Suppository Form
Pain Meds in Suppository Form
VA-USA-6/03 Horseback Accident-Broke Pelvis at Pubic Ramis-Left
By 12/03 had ALL signs of PNE. HORRIBLE BURNING when sitting
24 doctors & image studies found nothing over 7 yrs
Found this site 10/10 At last I had HOPE
PN Block 9/10 ALL areas of burning numb for 24 HRS
2 more blocks-no lasting relief, but numbed all "burning" areas
Pulsed Radio Frequency 01/11 did nothing
Surgery 3/3/11 Dr Dellon Balto, MD - Greatly reduced pain right away. Currrently in post-op healing phase.

Re: Pain Meds in Suppository Form
I have used B&O on occasions where I had a need to sit (e.g., plane ride). Prior to TG surgery used them maybe once or twice a week. They do give 8 hours of glorious relief (ie pain near 0-1) - like taking a PN vacation. They come in 30 and 60mg - I liked 60mg.

Cyclist till perineal pain onset R side (Apr'08). Dx with PN (Aug'09). Lyrica gave 30% pain reduction. Potter MRI (Oct'10) validated at surgery with Dr Hibner (Nov'10) - found nerve attached to scarred STL. Now sitting 10 hrs/day vs 1 hr/day pre-op. Surgery video = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FDwana6SQU
Deep neuropathic burning pain flares have been gone since surgery...Grateful to Dr Hibner.

Re: Pain Meds in Suppository Form
I started a prior thread on this (the valium, but the Opium came up too), here is the link to those responses http://www.pudendalhope.info/forum/view ... ?f=25&t=77
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Oh no.................so sorry. I just didn't look around hard enough.HerMajesty wrote:I started a prior thread on this (the valium, but the Opium came up too), here is the link to those responses http://www.pudendalhope.info/forum/view ... ?f=25&t=77
Is there anyway to link this to the one you started, so the info can all be in one place???
If not, is there a way to delete this thread all together???
BTW, thanks for thinking about the topic and getting it started again Her Majesty
Sounds like RJR had a good expeirence with them. Thanks for sharing that RJR, and the dosage that worked for you. I was wondering about that.

Re: Pain Meds in Suppository Form
No need to apologize you're not expected to run a search before asking a question. I think the common medication regimens neeed to be revisited frequently with new discussions. I just linked you to the other thread so that you would have the info, not to indict you for starting another on the same topic. I think somebody, someplace, posted an idea for the mods about listing med threads by category kind of like the docs are listed by name. The problem with that would be, in threads like the one I linked you to we discussed more than one med.
