Oprah Magazine - April 2015 - Piriformis Syndrome

Post by ezer »

Not scientific by any means but the Oprah Magazine dated April 2015 has an article titled :
"The Migraine in my butt" by Juno DeMelo.

After a decade of doctor's visit, Juno DeMelo figured out how to heal her mysterious injury - She had to open her mind to it first

It's still very difficult for some to believe that physical pain can originate in the mind.
The article is not online but she describes how she suffered for 14 years, had countless sessions of PT, MRIs, Botox, and even alludes to an experimental surgery that was offered to her.
She eventually discovered Sarno and that unearthing her repressed emotions did the trick.
2002 PN pain started following a fall on a wet marble floor
2004 Headache in the pelvis clinic. Diagnosed with PNE by Drs. Jerome Weiss, Stephen Mann, and Rodney Anderson
2004-2007 PT, Botox, diagnosed with PNE by Dr. Sheldon Jordan
2010 MRN and 3T MRI showing PNE. Diagnosed with PNE by Dr. Aaron Filler. 2 failed PNE surgeries.
2011-2012 Horrific PN pain.
2013 Experimented with various Mind-body modalities
3/2014 Significantly better
11/2014 Cured. No pain whatsoever since

Yes, I saw this article too. (And no, it wasn't my copy of Oprah; it was my wife's!) The author also talked about the benefits of meditation.
