Is Lyrica and Amytriptaline stronger than Gabapentin? I cannot tolerate Gabapentin...... Was only on it 3 times daily,a total of 300 mg per day.

Gabapentin and lyrica are in the same class of drugs. I'm not sure you can say which is stronger but lyrica is a newer drug that some people say works better for them with more tolerable side effects.

I couldn't tolerate gabapentin either and it didn't really help much so I quit taking it. Lyrica didn't come out until after I was doing well enough to not need drugs anymore so I never tried it.

The specialist I go to use high dose Lyrica and Nortriptyline plus suppositories. Even with this regimen my rectal pain was unbearable. Cymbalta works much better for me.
