This is what the package says to explain it:
Palmitoylethanolamide is a nutritional factor which acts in the body as a biological modulator, aiding the control of physiological tissue reactivity. It should therefore be used, under medical supervision, in the diet of patients suffering from disorders supported by mast-cell-induced tissue hyper-reactivity. When the body is subjected to recurrent inflammatory conditions and its natural synthesis capacity is exhausted, endogenous production of palmitoylethanolamide is reduced, and it is useful to counteract this deficiency physiologically. (Use of product during pregnancy is not advisable). Normast (600mg) should be used under medical supervision, at the approximate dose of 1 tablet a day.
