Has anyone tried to use a Gym Ball with a view to doign some pilates exercise for core strengthening?
I have bought one recently and it came with a dvd which looks relatively simple to do...apart from some exercises which I wouldnt consider doing as I have a stimulator and dont want to risk falling and messing that therapy up.
I havent actually inflated the ball yet, but when i last sat on one it did give me great support and it did feel like I was floating instead of sitting.

I did both the gym ball and a pilates machine as part of the core exercise program I was progressing through in PT. For me it was good stuff, not as a cure for PN but as a fitness thing and the core program did help my PN related neurogenic bladder.
But I have also heard of a lot of PN patients who get pain from this same thing. I'm not sure about doing it unless it is specifically a program geared to pelvic PT, or under some kind of PT supervision...but rule of thumb in my opinion is, if it makes you feel good do it but if it exacerbates your pain don't try to "push through it".

So far i have only used my gym ball for minimal exercises and sitting when watching tv.....it allows me to straighten my back and put less pressure on the PN areas. I have not been brave enough to use it to exercise as yet.....!!!!!!
