Pudendal Neuralgia: Nerve Compression or Radiculopathy ?

Eric de Bisschop M.D.

Neuro-urogynaecology. Electrophysiological Investigations Unit
Clinic Axium
Aix-en-Provence. France.

This article suggests a lumbar disc issue could cause PN. This is fascinating bc so many if us have spine issues.
Please google and read.

Thanks, Carolyn.

Dr. Bautrant rejected 12 patients for his study http://www.pudendalhope.info/sites/defa ... utrant.pdf due to radiculopathies. I think the trick is to figure out whether it's a spinal radiculopathy or pudendal neuralgia of the peripheral nerve. So many people have lumbar disc herniations without symptoms so when you do have one, it's hard to determine for sure whether it's the cause of the symptoms.

Violet,
Hi old friend!!
Very interesting. Now I need to find a neurosurgeon who is knowledgeable about PN and hoping to get an MRN from lumbar down thru on branches , just to attempt to glean more info. I may try to contact the author of the article from France.
Thanks,
Cm

Hi Carolyn, hope you are feeling better these days and that you will gather some valuable info if you go for the MRN. ;)

Here is the most recent contact info we have for Dr. de Bisschop. http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/57#FR Hopefully it is still current.

Yes, Dr. de Bisshop used to work with Dr. Bautrant. They were working together when I went to France. At the time they were using the somatosensory evoked potentials test (SSEP). Here's an article that tells you about SSEP's in depth. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1 ... verview#a1

Good luck,

Violet
