medical mariuana

Post by kathyd »

Hi
Has anyone had good results with smoking pot for their pudendal pain with sitting>
A very caring friend of mine suffers from migraines and finds that pot helps tremendously. She just sent me some in hopes that it will help me too.
Its legal in our state. (for medical use etc)
Im about to try but am always wary of any new drug.
Im looking for relief from throbbing anal pain and bladder (urge to pee pain)

I drove my car briefly today... for the first time in a long time... (for sanity's sake .. sometimes its worth taking the risk to get out the house on my own!)
Any way the after pain has kicked in and
am about to try the "med" my friend sent.
Was wondering about other folks experience?
Thx!

Unfortunately, it is not legal in our state. I know from published literature that many individuals had success with managing their neuropathic pain using marijuana.

Just to let you know not all marijuana is created equal. There are about 85 different cannabinoids in a marijuana plant. The two most commonly known and used for medicinal purposes are Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, which gives the high) and cannabidiol (CBD). There are clinical trials going on right now for the use of CBD in children with uncontrolled seizures. Doctors are far from knowing the details of what is the best combination of the different cannabinoids for maximum pain relief. Since it is legal in your state you might want to go to a reputable shop and ask them about which one people have found helpful for nerve pain.

There are other ways to ingest marijuana besides smoking it. I believe it is in the Netherlands, pain doctors prescribe it in cookie form, and you eat a cookie so many times a day. There are directions on the internet how to extract the oils out of the marijuana or ground it up and put it into butter to use it in cookies or brownies. You can also use a vaporizer which then there are no harmful worries about toxins for the lungs. Like I said above, since this is legal in your state any reputable shop should be able to give you advice on this.

If it was legal in our state I'd been getting a prescription and giving it a try. To me I see know different in this than the narcotics they have to prescribe us to help control pain. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

mmWe just bought a house in a state that medical marijuana is legal and I intend to give it a try. I am on so much pain medication and I have to have my knee replaced in the fall. My doctor said that pain medication after that surgery won't be as effectiv, so I will get a mm doctor to give me a certificate to obtain some.

Has anyone seen a medical marijuana doctor? I'm afraid there will be really creepy people there. Any advice?
Had PN since childbirth 1968
Had MRI,MRN,EMG,trigger point injections,3 steriod nerve blocks, pelvic plexus CT
Seeing Dr. Hibner Sept.29,2010
MEDS: Cymbalta 120mg, Elavil 25mg, Valium Suppositories, Fentanyl patch
Surgery w/ Dr. Hibner 3/14/11
Pain did not go away until I was given a steriod block to broken coccyx

Hi Folks
I don't know how to begin the process to obtain med marijuana in our state NJ. I would rather "eat it" in baked goods or do the vaporizer thing, as I was never a smoker in younger days
when I inhale I either get too little or too much and choke on the smoke!.. its an acquired skill, I guess! The results were very short lasting ..pain was still there and bladder urge as well, but the pain just went into the background. I didn't get very much marijuana into my system ( I had no clue what I was doing!)

I was told about a govm't website that I went to..... very official with a zillion questions to fill out ..looked very confusing and daunting so I called the phone number, for more info and got a machine that directed me back to the website!
I saw a list of docs and recognized one whom Id been to in the past who was certainly reputable but very $$ and not in our insurance . plan. I remember I s had topped see him as he half jokingly told me he had "no interest in treating patients with "That IC disease".. This was back in 2008...that kind explains in a nutshell why many of us are still in pain!
I tried another kind doc I had seen once for blood work issues.. nothing serious
But I was told by his receptionist that he only rx'd pot for terminally ill cancer patients (most of his patients were cancer patients) and that he just directed them to a dispensary and they were not directly involved...ie ..if you weren't being treated for cancer...don't bother to call him.
I know that there are some pot "shops" in Montclair NJ, a very diverse and cosmopolitan little city about 30 min., from me.
I must get hubby to drive me there.. He is overwhelmed and tired right now so that may take some time.

Does anyone who lives in Ny/NY metro area know the best and quickest way to go about becoming eligible for obtaining med marijuana? The government website seemed so confusing and as we know, one loses patience for all the red tape after years of dealing with it!
I have a pain pump and for now for my pian doc is focused on that ,so I don't know if he would get involved in this
..any advice appreciated.
Thx! in advance.

Haven't tried it myself but I know someone who did and they said it didn't help. :(

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hi,I guess it depends on the person and the type of pain. I have a friend who suffers from migraines.. and finds the pot tremendously helpful. But thats a much different ailment than PN.

She was so hopeful that it would help me too. It did for a short time, but I didn't smoke much of it and probably didn't do it correctly! I think the method of delivery is key...so you get enough of it.... vaporizer sounds more dependable to me.

Anyone who knows how to go applying for it could you pls post?

Do we just keep calling docs on the state list?
I think you have to be enrolled in an official registry before a doctor will help you.. and Im wondering how to go about enrolling? ... the online forms were very confusing
Has anyone in NJ or other eligible state tried to enroll?
So many roadblocks!

Thx
Kathy

I had a Medical Cannabis Recommendation card in California that's now expired due to a leasing agreement that will end VERY soon!

There is Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica and then there are a number of different Cannabis Strains with differing Genotypes that specifically carters to certain complaints for example:

*MS Neuropathic Pain / Urinary Incontinence: Trainwreck, Super Silver Haze), NYCD and Sour Diesel.
For severe pain, concentrates may be required.

Digestive Disorders: Blueberry, Blackberry, Black Domina.

Nausea and Diarrhea and Cramping (including Menstrual Cramps): Blueberry.

*This is from grasscity i wasn't sure if i get in trouble for posting a link but the guys over their know their stuff when it comes to cannabis and general gardening, they are intelligent, caring, and informed bunch.

I cant fathom cannabis not working for PN I know that King Louis XIII (indica) @ bed time worked wonders level 0 pain. Stay away from Sativas or Sativa dominant strains because Sativas make you super aware of your pain.

Another option which i LOVE is CBDs its non-psychoactive no high just simply pain relief. All i can say is omg! Yeah its that good! Cheebachews pure CBD purple box is a wonderful brand and Veince Cookie Company has a pure CBD coconut oil tincture (never tried).

If anyone would like to know more about Cannabis for PN please PM me and i will shoot you over my number its hard for me to post on the message board until i get some real pain relief.

Hello to all,

First time here!
I could read for the next 24 hours here as I am so happy to find a community who gets it. But sorry we are all in this club.
I see myself in these posts.
I have had 9 years of diagnosed chronic pelvic pain.
Biopsies, exploratory surgery, adhesions removal, MRIs, CAT scans, shots, pelvic floor massage, energy work, chiro, regular massage, regular PT, and on and on. ALSO had disc surgery as a direct result of the constant spasm on my left side that over time changed my posture= disc blowout.
Soooo....MEDS> vicidon, oxy, a list of anti depressants, Tramadol, flexeril, sleeping pills, non-gluten diet, herbs, morphine and on and on.
Most recently the doctor who I chose to see, and paid cash for, discontinued my pain management and sent a referral for me to another place- actually slamming me into weaning as I had told said dr. for two months that I was in a flare-up and taking more meds at times. Just like I admitted when things were going better and please do not prescribe as much (big mistake). I say mistake because he wanted to then forever keep me on that low does! WHAT? Weird...
Okay so I go to the referral, on my only day off of six day a week job.
I knew it was a bad sign when I pulled up and saw a line of people before they opened. Right away I think: Methadone clinic. Which it was not, but it was a strange place! I was first in line as the men waiting were real gentlemen and had me sign in first. Nice.
I then waited 4 1/2 , yes, four and a half hours to be seen. Everyone and their brother came and went, argued with staff, demanded one dr. over another... And I was one of two white people there. Not that it is bad, but it made me uncomfortable while they watched Maury Povich on tv, loud, referencing African American and White hot topics.
I had paid cash, 385.00 because they would not take my insurance plus seeing anyone else in town required all my records from past. Apparently records sending is not top of list of priority at most dr. offices and it takes time. Basically I was paying 385.00 to not suffer withdrawals from Vicadon.
The doctor had me sit on his desk, as he had no exam table...this is beyond humiliating!
In the end, he gave, a prescription for ONLY 28 pills, take two every six hours. And. I had a hard time filling.
Why am I giving this lengthy story? Because it is just one of many things that have happened to me on this road that makes me now have to look at alternatives mostly to not go thru the ordeal it is to be recognized and treated for real pain.
This guy said for more meds I need to get my old MRI and indicated we would basically start from zero, and all visits 175.00 and only a 2 hour wait.
My partner has been telling me forever to try medical marijuania. I was refusing because last year I was drug tested for my highly responsible job and was refused a position due to narcotics in urine that I not only claimed would be there but I had doctors letters for. I thought if they can do this with a prescription what will happen with more controversial medical marijuania?
Well, thanks to my forced weaning I started taking more Tramadol ( VERY helpful for withdrawals) and went to get my marijuania card!
I cried with sadness getting the card. I just feel defeated. BUT the research on it is great! And its got to be better then the liver damage from pills. I had to get over my judgement.
I finally called around and found someone who delivers, as my town will not have standing dispensaries until January.
I ordered a high CBD Syrup and an edible cake that had some THC. I do not wish to smoke it right now, if ever.
So far so good! Although it takes some experimenting to get the dose right. I do not like a feeling of being high. The syrup gave me NO SUCH FEELING! The cake, some.
But-main thing, pain relieved. I have not had enough time yet to totally form an opinion on how much it will help when things are real bad. But, it has helped me to go down to only three vicadons per day, six tramadols. Still trying to stop sleeping pill- which was only prescribed because the pain meds didn't do enough over night.
So, there I am in a nutshell.
I think it has been more stress to try to deal with being treated like a criminal getting pain meds then anything else! It only makes my pain go up, from stress. I am hoping that the marijuania helps with anxiety too, at this point.
Best to all...and wondering, who else is trying marijuania?

I tried 3 different brands and strengths of CBD and none of it worked.
Different things work for different people. It is worth a try.
