Has anyone had nerve blocks near the spine ?, if so was it helpful ? if it was helpful for how long did the relief last ? I am asking, because I was considering talking to my doctor about this at my next appointment.

Where near your spine are you considering the blocks and for what? Typically, if you get an injection in your "back", the medicine stays localized in that area. In other words, it's not usually effective for pelvic and/or lower extremity pain.
If it were me, I'd be very cautious about agreeing to have anything injected into my spine. Please view the following thread regarding steroid epidural injections:

As a side note: I've personally accompanied other chronic pain patients for spinal nerve blocks (not PN or pelvic related) and have spoken to their interventional radiologists in detail about the procedure. Because they used steroids, either Depo Medrol or Kenalog, you can only get three injections. None of my friends experienced any long term, or even temporary significant relief. After the exhausting the injections, they were advised to move onto phase two: RFA. That didn't prove helpful for them, either.
