Adding Lyrica while on gabapentin

I'm going to try Lyrica. My doc called in the script, but she never answered my question about being on gabapentin. Right now I take 2100mg daily of gaba.
Do I transition GABA to Lyrica, or is this in addition to?
Does anyone out there take both medications?
The pharmacist said usually its one or the other, so I will absolutely double check on Monday.
I tolerate gabapentin very well, so I hope Lyrica will be the same, well one can hope!
Thanks
Debbie

Debbie,
In my case it was a switch from Gabapentin to Lyrica. Checking with the doctor should sort it out and with the pharmacy questioning it I would wait before taking both.

The convention is to take one or the other. Definitely get clarity from your doctor on what to take and what not to. Anti epileptics can be rough to adjust to at the beginning, so dosing these things carefully is important to success.

Thanks for the answers, this confirms my suspicion.
There must be some formula used to switch from one to the other.... I'll let you know what I find out

Just a quick update -
Yes per doc, take .50 mg Lyrica with my 2100 mg, and increase the Lyrica another .50 mg for two more weeks, up to 150mg.
See what's happening, and check in with her.....
She said yes, usually it's one or the other, but in my case, I need to get to a "good" place first, then reduce the gaba.
Oh boy, can't wait to get to the "good" place.... Lol!
