Gradual Development

I'm starting to go numb in the distribution of the peroneal (superficial) nerve. This has been a gradual development over the last month or so. Just another neuropathy to add to the list. It's a branch of the sciatic nerve, yet no sciatic pain or numbness (YET). I can't wait for my apt. with Dr. Potter...I'm inclined to believe I've got a growth on my sacral nerve roots or something that wasn't picked up by my MRI several months ago.

I read all the time that people have strange leg things going on concurrently with their pudendal symptoms, yet if you're entrapped shouldn't it be localized to only that nerve? It certainly can't skip the entire upper half of your leg and distribute to only a specific nerve of the calf can it? I feel like I need a medical degree just to figure out my own body :|

I started with toe / foot symptoms several months BEFORE the pudendal developed.
For me it was because the joint injury in my pelvis was pulling every structure in my pelvis every which way. So there were plenty of different structures to become entrapped in.
Dr. Filler in particular, is very into the idea that the piriformis muscle can entrap both the pudendal and sciatic nerves. He told me that he believes if I get my piriformis relaxed my pudendal and foot symptoms might be fixed simultaneously. So far I had my piriformis injected with steroid but that only locked it up worse, temporarily giving me severe sciatica. So I am waiting for approval to have it botoxed.

I had numbness off and on in my legs, back and pelvis for years. Now the bottoms of my feet are numb and my thighs took 5 months to get complete feeling back after surgery.

As Hermajesty explained, different ligaments and muscles pull on other things so pain will show up in areas where there is no actual entrapment. It is called nerve crosstalk and is very common. You are not along in having pain in areas where there are no traumas or entrapments.

It is a flag that something is off so don't ignore it and see a chiropractor or a good PT to make sure you are in alignment and that all your joints are working correctly.
