Hello Everyone
Think i might be onto something.....i hope. Was going back through my records and reports. And since 2005 i have had an 8mm height difference on the right side of my pelvis. Due to my leg being longer than the other. I have read an interesting article by someone who suffered from the same symptoms as me and was managed to be helped by a chiropractor. Your pelvis tilts because its not aligned correctly and stretches and crushes things inside(pudendal nerve?) I was supposed to wear a lift this whole time but didn't. And 8mm is quite a bit of a difference, 1/3 of an inch.
I am not saying this will help everyone. But i have had back problems since i was little, scoliosis as well. It just seems like this could be the only reason i can think of, as a gait thats off, pelvic thats tilted, and leg discrepancy, cannot be good for all the ligaments and muscles in the pelvis, including the sacroliac joint and piriformis muscles that all contact the pudendal nerve.
I don't have the extreme pain that most of you discuss, mine is more functional.....
ED
Urinary frequency
and numbness and burning
But nothing that keeps me up at night.........except for my back pain. if i stand for longer than an hour i am in so much pain.
DO any of you on here have excruciating lower back pain, and did you have the PNE or the Back pain first. And what are your thoughts on the two being connected.
I just am having a hard time accepting i just got PNE out of nowhere at 20 years old with no accidents, no bicycle riding, nothing. The only thing i ever did was lift weights.
Thank you for the support everyone
Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
This leg discrepancy is a cause of low back pain. The pelvis tilt is pulling and the SI is being pulled. I did not have leg discrepancy unless I am out of pelvic alignment and all this started after PNE sugery. I am doing some core strengthening and wearing an SI belt for cooking when I do the most twisting and lifting that can pull out the alignment. The lift starting with a 1/8 or 1/4 inch might help you. Also finding a PT that can work this out. Lifting weights can bring on PN problems but hopefully you can get some help and with youth on your side sort this out before it gets worse. Good luck.

2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.
Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
Yeah my pelvis 9 mm off on the right side, almost a half an inch. Which in my eyes is very significant, the doctors say it's minor.
Trying to get a lift but these criminal doctors won't give it to me, even though i was prescribed one years ago, unless i go to another appointment so they can just be sure.......
I have pain on my right side all over, lower back, hips, knee, thigh. I am assuming my right side must be compensating for my whole body because the left leg is significantly smaller.
Like you said, it's probably effecting my SI and maybe even my piriformis, so i figure if i fix these issues, there is a good chance it could help my PNE if i even have it. or at least make the symptoms more tolerable.
I see my PT on tuesday, i am hoping she can help with some of this, she tried to release my trigger points in the pelvic floor, but they always came back. I think because i would go straight to work and sit for 8 hours all day. Now my desk is made so i can stand up so i am hoping with stretching, a chiropractor, some PT. Maybe just maybe things will get better. I don't think i have PNE just because i am not in excruciating pain like everyone here seems to be, i almost feel guilty because i complain so much and my symptoms aren't terrible.

Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
Until.you get set up with a real lift you can try some inserts from a pharmacy. I got some heel or just non-slip.rubber or suede like smaller some what trianguler padsthat you can just put at the heel of your shoe instead of under the ball front of shoe as these are sometimes made to help woman from sliding to the front of high heels. That would be a start to leveling things out and a minor adjustment 1/8 to 1/4 inch. I think you are right you may not have full blown PNE but highly aggravated issues that need to be smoothed out. It can take awhile but will be worth it. I still get out of alignment not as much as before and not usually as bad.

Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
Joe, one of our forum members, Hermajesty, used to work with Jerry Hesch who is a manual therapist. She has posted many words of wisdom on the forum regarding leg length discrepancy and SI joint dysfunction. Maybe send her a private message but also contact Jerry Hesch to find out if he knows a good manual therapist in your area. I could be wrong but it seems like the Hesch Method treatments that Hermajesty has described are less high velocity and therefore maybe less risky than some of the chiro treatments I have experienced. If you are having hip pain you might also need to be checked for acetabular labral tears.
My PNE problems were caused by a combination of pelvic misalignment, ligament strain, SIJD, leg length discrepancy, etc. so yes, there can definitely be a relationship between all of these and PNE. I see you were weightlifting. That's what caused the start of my symptoms. I'm doing great now though (see my signature) -- so hang in there.
Best,
Violet

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hi Joe,
A few questions:
Have you been diagnosed with SIJD?
When's the last time you had lumbo-sacral imaging?
Hip imaging?
Have Tarlov Cysts been ruled out?
Have you been evaluated by a chiropractor?
What has your PT's feedback been in regards to your musculoskeletal disorders?
Kind regards,
Karyn

I guess you could say I have excruciating LBP, but for me, it's more like excruciating upper-butt pain. I have Tarlov Cyst Disease, where the nerves behind the sacrum are compressed. So, there's definitely a connection. Not knowing the details of your scoliosis, I can't comment about how it may be effecting the lumbo-sacral plexus.joeparz wrote:DO any of you on here have excruciating lower back pain, and did you have the PNE or the Back pain first. Ultra Sound in 03/08 showed severely retroverted, detaching uterus with mulitple fibroids and ovarian cysts.
Pressure and pain in lower abdomen and groin area was unspeakable and devastating.
Total lap hysterectomy in 06/08, but damage was already done.
EMG testing in NH in 04/10 - bilateral PN and Ilioinguals
3T MRI at HSS, NY in 09/10
Bilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on 03/29/11. Bilat ilioinguinal & iliohypogastric neurectomy 03/12. TCD surgery 04/14.

Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
I have not been diagnosed with SIJD, in fact not one doctor will give me a scan of my pelvis. Which is driving me absolutely insane. I got my old scans on disk from 2004-now and my tilt settled at 1 cm.
Also i tried to get the 3t MRI done at MGH and they won't do it until i see dr.conway first. Unfortunately he is booked until february. So i have to wait two months now just to see him. and then more time to book the scan.
I had a positive lyme test(ELISA) and a neg western blot so they decided not to treat me. Even though i told them to treat me anyway as most of my symptoms are very much like Lyme. ALso my mother has had lyme for 4 years, and we lived in the same house. Couldn't hurt to take the antibiotics just to be safe.
I am seeing a chiro today for a consultation, i am praying to every god there is that this can all be chalked up to being misaligned and combination of SIJD and coccydinia or something.
I can stand for about an hour, and then my lower back and knees just tighten up and ache.
Also have fibrous tissue in my knee that they said is from an injury. I have never injured my knee in my life. It's the knee of my leg that's longer, that they also said is no problemo since it's only 1cm off.
Just find it odd, my whole right side is in pain, and it happens to be the side thats compensating for the shorter half.
Also i do notice all of the muscles around my sacrum and coccyx are really tender. Especially if i press quickly and release fast. It gives me this weird sensitive, sensation. EVen just a little pressure feels like i fell on it or something.
And my pelvic floor muscles are constantly in contraction. several times throughout the day, i have to breath and relax and i can actually feel the muscles release and relax. But then uncontrollably they tense up again and spasm.
I have been checked for MS, MRI w/o contrast, and there were no lesions.
I am running out of ideas at this point...........if it were just PNE symptoms it would be bad enough. But PNE symptoms, and then back pain, ,muscle weakness, joint pain all over, even in my hands.
I just feel there's an underlying issue that no one can find.
My mom does have FIBRO, so i am starting to wonder if fibro is what is eating me alive.

"The clinical and basic research studies developed by the NIDDK and the research community have had a traditional focus on the bladder and the prostate as the origins of disease for UCPPS. However, recent epidemiological studies have shown that other conditions that share chronic pain as a major symptom are often associated with UCPPS, including fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome; vulvodynia and migraine headache may also be associated with UCPPS, but the epidemiological evidence for this relationship is currently less compelling. These findings suggest the possibility of a common underlying pathophysiology in chronic pain disorders. However, these intriguing associations and their implications to disease development have not been adequately addressed in studies of UCPPS. In addition, many traditional urologic-focused research efforts addressing UCPPS have not emphasized novel and innovative approaches or incorporated expertise from related fields of investigation. Also, basic, translational, and clinical researchers have had insufficient formal opportunities for collaboration in addressing common goals. It has become apparent that the traditional concepts and strategies driving UCPPS research are in need of significant redirection, including the introduction of new and novel methodologies and the involvement of related disciplines, in order to address the many long standing deficiencies in our understanding of these disorders."
It is not uncommon for people with PN to also have fibromyalgia or similar pain disorders. I wonder if it has to do with a heightened sense of pain. I don't know....but pudendal neuralgia is often accompanied by other conditions.

Re: Leg Discrepancy and Pelvic Tilt
I was driving long distances regularly, which caused me to develop back pain and pelvic tilt. After starting to use the Pelvic Leveler tool, I've noticed a significant improvement in my back pain and imbalance. This tool is truly excellent
I gave the Pelvic Leveler tool a shot, and WOW, it actually made my drives so much less miserable! If you’ve been feeling that weird back pain after long commutes or road trips, you might want to check it out.
