Hello everyone
Not sure if this is the right place to post but I have been referred to dr baranowski in london now as my doctor believes this is the best guy to help me with my problems which are severe coccyx pain vaginal burning bladder pain loss of sensation etc
Does anyone know what will happen on my appointment? I am travelling down from Liverpool for this and just wonder what tests etc will be done.
Many thanks in advance xx

Best thing to do would be to ring Dr Baranowski's secretary and ask? - then you'll know what to expect. Very important as you have such a long way to travel.

Is this a private consultation?

Did your GP know about Dr de Mello in Manchester - he is much closer to you. Sorry a bit after the event with this, don't know where I got the idea but I thought you were in London.

I have no experience of the nerve blocks myself, my own diagnosis was clear from the start  so nobody needed to do any blocks...

My consultant at Liverpool felt like dr baranowski would be best for me I think because it is to do with my bladder but not sure.... my problems came about because I had urine retention after birth and my bladder was massively over distended causing nerve damage.
I dont mind travelling if I get good results
what is the aim in seeing these guys, to get cured? Or will we live life on these meds? The problrm with my consultant is that I only see her every few months and she is always tunning late and I get about five minutes with her so I have so many questions I forget to ask!

Well, I think we'd all like to be cured! You are young and that means that you should have a better chance than many of us, of making a good recovery. People do recover, you know.

We go to see the PN consultants simply because there are so few people who have specialist knowledge of this condition. It used to be that the gynae people said, no that's neuro territory we aren't touching it - and neurologists said no that's gynae territory we aren't touching it. So we ended up with nobody looking after us at all. And heaven help the poor men who had PN problems! So we go to see them, because they know more about it than anyone else, and we hope for the best possible outcome.

Re seeing the consultant for 5 minutes and forgetting to ask questions, make a list, and remember to take it with you... ;)

Thanks for answering again. I always take a list and then dont get up the courage to get it out! I am getting better at it though I am anxious around drs and suffer from post traumatic stress following the complications surrounding the birth of my little-un.
I upped my dose of gabapentin today after feeling not too bad yesterday so heres hoping for some improvement. I sat without too much pain for a meal yesterday but I have paid for it today
Thank you again for answering me it helps to talk to someone who understands x

Solution there may be to have the list in your hand when you are in the waiting room....? That's what I do, or I would forget to take it out of my bag. You won't be the only one going in to see her with a list, I am sure. Those five minutes, or ten, or whatever, are precious...

Do take care re too much sitting, delayed pain is so nasty, very hard to judge what effect anything is going to have later. I do hope you are feeling better now.

Have you tried anything re helpful seating ideas? At one point I bought one of those curved pillows (Boppy) that are sold for nursing mothers and was sitting on that (don't laugh!) it is not intended for anyone to sit on at all but it was actually quite comfortable with the gap in the right place. It is worth trying to find something that helps even a bit.

And you are very welcome, ask all the questions you like. I have three children of my own, they are all grown now and left the nest but I well remember what it is like having little ones and I can only imagine how difficult things are for you at the moment.

Hope you feel some improvement soon!

I bought a coccyx cushion but it doesn't work for me so what I tend to do is put a big cushion on top of the sofa and sort of perch on it with my coccyx over the edge!
I really hope I can get better in the future
Thank you for answering xx
