Ok so I have had 2 blocks and the dr. wants to book another. I had a flare the first time and it was horrible but then I found some relief. I did not flare the second time around. So...this is my outcome so far. I am able to sit all day long and go for long trips during hte day with no pain. For real! :) But, I will still get some burning pain in the evenings if I sit. It is toned down quite a bit. I will still get burning pain if I have a bm or have lots of gas bubbles passing. ( have to hold off on beans :0 ) Th dr. mentioned sending me for surgery. Surgery is to scary for me though. Does anyone else have the same times for burning like I do after the blocks? Should the blocks have gotten rid of it totally?

From what I have read I think that 3 blocks is usually recommended, or at least the number used by doctors in an attempt to cure PN. Some dr's say that a good %age are cured this way.
Unfortunately I don't think that anyone can say with any authority that your symptoms 'should be' anything different to how they are now but it's excellent that they are improved. Great news :) There are no set rules or benchmarks saying a person will be 10%, 30% or any % better after whatever treatment, sometimes blocks don't work at all.
You may decide to just stick at the 2 blocks you have had as you have seen improvement, going for a 3rd is totally up to you with consultation with your dr. but still totally your decision. Same with any surgery, It's all about quality of life.
Try to assess where you are pain and disability wise, especially when it comes to a question of surgery. It's not something to be treated lightly so I do think that you have the right attitude, surgery is scary! so needs a lot of thought and consideration.
Are you going to go for the 3rd block?
Take care,
Helen
