Pain Device Implanted During PN Surgery

Post by JackieOUCH »

Hi,

I watched Dr. Hibner's pudendal nerve surgery video.

I'm curious about the pain implant that is placed near the nerve toward the end of the surgery. Is this device left in place indefinitely?

Thank you,

No, it is not left in indefinitely. You go home with it in and usually it runs out about 2-3 weeks after surgery. You just pull it out yourself. Not really painful when you pull it.

Hello,

My daughter, who is MD is saying that it is common for many operations today. Like shoulder or hip replacement, spinal operations and many more. They put catheter and pump with pain reliever and leave it for some time. It spreads medication around nerves and makes recovery easier. Patient can start walking faster, can go home faster. In some operations can start PT faster.

I hope it helps,

Helen

It was totally useless for me. It did nothing for pain like it should have. I wonder if he even uses this now?
