Your advice please

Hi,
I was wondering if someone may be able to give some advice? I injured my coccyx 20 years ago. I have been suffering with pain on a daily basis and I have always thought that I just had coccydynia. I’ve had cortisone injections, which have only made the pain worse. I have considered getting my coccyx removed but I am worried about the recovery period and possible complications. I did try a procedure where the needle was inserted into the nerve and injected with anesthetic and steroids, but this only made the pain worse after the anesthetic wore off. I actually had to quit my job after this procedure because I could not sit down at all and I was in terrible pain. I am wondering if my problem is my pudendal nerve. I also have vulvodynia and I am wondering if this may be related. I am now looking at possible procedures to help with the pain and I would love to know anyone’s experiences.
Thank you

K, we had a guy who used to post here who had his coccyx removed but it wasn't successful at relieving the pain. Do you remember the name of the procedure you tried? Some people try what's called a ganglion impar block and I was wondering if maybe that's what you had. I'm sorry it made you worse.

Vulvodynia can be caused by pudendal neuropathy or pudendal nerve entrapment so, yes, they can be related. For more information on the symptoms, you can check out the website at this link: http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/9
