Potter MRI questions

Post by rea »

Hi everyone,
I saw a sports medicine/rehabilitation doctor today (referred by chiro) because of needing another SI injections, possible trigger point, botox, etc. I told him about my prior 2 SI injections and that I had prolotherapy twice. He told me he couldn't do a SI injection on me because I had prolotherapy. His reason was that prolo gets the joint to try to heal itself. He was pretty much done with me when I had him look at my swollen left hip and outer thigh. He was perplexed. He checked my old mri's and said he wanted me to have a new one. If I'm going to have one, I think I should see Potter.

I called to check how the script should be written and was told to have "MRI of pelvis with attention to pudendal nerve". In Houston, I was told it had to be without contrast. Is that right or should it read with and without contrast? Does her mri show labral tears?

Still can't get a doctor to check for hernia.

Hi Rea,
It is correct that Dr. Potter doesn't use contrast with her MRI's for the pelvis, particularly with the PN. Not sure why your doc in Houston told you it had to be without.
In regards to your hips/thigh - that's a separate study. Of course, you could have Dr. Potter do both, but they'd probably have to be scheduled individually. Contacting the office again might give you more definitive answers. Depending on your finances and travelling tolerance, it may not be a bad idea to have the hip MRI done locally. If any pathology is noted, you would then need an arthogram for suspected labral tears.

How frustrating!!! In looking at your many, collective symptoms; I was wondering if Maigne's Syndrome has been confirmed/ruled out for you?:

Karyn,
Well, there goes my idea of killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I saw a sports medicine 2 wks ago and he saw my misalignment but when I showed him my swollen outer hip he had me turn right and left from waist up. He had me show him on my spine where pain was felt and I did. He said that corresponded to my SIJ but didn't mention Migne's. Maybe put it on my records...have to get those.
Waiting to hear back from Vicki Sims office cause I had to reschedule. After the sclerozation I had new and worse pain symptoms. Was hoping they went away but not so far and the veins on the left that go to labia are very pronounced with a small noticeable bump in one. I'm so discouraged, thinking I've messed myself up even worse. I'm just going to have to focus on the SIJ for now. Will go ahead and get the MRI done locally. Just would love to know if Hibner is right or wrong about my dorsal nerve.

Best wishes,
Rea

Rea, I really feel for you and what you are going through. Wish I could think of the "magic solution" but since that is elusive I just wanted you to know that I'm thinking about you and hoping you will be able to get all of your pain issues sorted out including this new problem you are having. What a mess for you just when you didn't need it.

Hugs,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Violet,
You are such a big help and thank you for the support. You made me cry, but for once, it was a good one for a change. :)
