If Hibner did your first & re-do decompression...

Post by quilter »

Please reply if you had both the first and a re-do PN decompression by Dr. Hibner.

1. If you initially got better postop but then got worse, with symptoms similar to before your first surgery, how did he explain the recurrence of pain?

2. What criteria and tests did he use to determine that you would benefit from re-do surgery?

3. Before the re-do surgery, was he convinced you were re-entrapped at the same level, or had new entrapment at a different level?

4. If entrapped at the same level, does that mean the nerve wrap lasts only a short period of time, causing new scar tissue formation once the wrap dissolves? Has he told anyone how long the wrap is supposed to last?

5. If entrapped at a new level, how did that occur if you had no new injury?

6. What did he do differently in the second surgery, and how far apart were the two procedures?

7. During the re-do surgery, what did he that explained your recurring or new pain?

8. What are your results so far from the re-do surgery? Please direct me to your case update post to prevent typing it again.

Thank you, and hope you're doing better!

Quilter, sorry I can't answer all your questions but I did want to say that I have a friend who was just in Phoenix for redo surgery (Dr. Hibner did not do her first one) but he told her he is having better results on redo's than initials. Sorry, I can't give you anymore details.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
