Dr. Potter

Post by KC17 »

Hi everyone,

I spoke with the appointment desk today, trying to find out the answers to some of my questions regarding getting an MRI with Dr. Potter. I'm definitely going to go and have the MRI done, planning to fly to NY mid-January.

Being absentminded, I forgot to ask how long it takes to get an appointment. Does anybody here know? I'm trying to plan when to have my doctor fax over the request. She did mention that once they receive the request, I call to make the appointment. I wonder if I can request an appointment so far in advance?

Any help would be appreciated.

Krista

*I forgot to ask: Do I have to specify that Dr. Potter read the MRI? I'm certain Ali knows...

Hi KC17,
To my knowledge, the average time is two weeks. But I am sure the radiology department will be able to accomodate you.Make sure that it is reviewed by Dr. Potter and is included in your doctor's script.
The script is as follows.

The script should be as follows.

2) Dorsal Nerve of the Clitoris or Penis especially passing through the Pubic bone.

Hi Krista,
I went to NYC for the MRI at the beginning of September. They wanted to give me an appointment for the following week!
Unless something has drastically changed (like a PN Stampeed! ), wait time is under 2 weeks.
Best wishes with your MRI!
Warm regards,
Karyn

Thank you Ali and Karyn, you have both been very helpful.

And Karyn, you gave me a good chuckle. Since getting PN, I haven't moved very fast anywhere so the thought of a stampede of us PN'ers is quite the thought indeed!

Hi everyone,

I'm typing from my phone so please forgive me for any typos. I'm currently in my hotel in new York having received my MRI today. Finally the day came! I just wanted to report how lovely the hospital is and how nice the staff there is.

I am staying down the road 8 blocks at the bently hotel and it is really nice and very convienent. It has of course been snowing all day and that is the only bad thing I can say regarding making an appointment for this time of year. The ice and snow makes me feel very uneasy on my feet and I can't imagine what a slip and fall might do to me. Walking around so carefully and up and down the hills has sent me into one of my worst flares in a couple months (my right side is now acting up horribly).

Anyway, now on to the waiting game. I'll be sure to post my results when I get them

Hi Krista!
I'm glad you made it to NYC and thanks so much for checking in with us. Yes, snow and ice is much more scary when you're already unsteady on your feet. ;)
Were able to meet with Dr. Potter? I wasn't one of the lucky ones who got to speak with her, but I did get my report in like 3 days. Not bad!
The traveling (sitting/walking) was brutal for me, too and it took almost a week for me to recover from it. Hopefully, your flare won't last that long. Looking forward to hearing about your results. You must feel relieved it's over with!
Warm regards,
Karyn

Hi Karyn!

Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to meet with her as she does not work on Fridays. Did you request a copy of your results be mailed to your house? If so, 3 days is quite fast! I figure with snail mail it will take a while, and the ladies at my primary care doctor won't let me touch a copy of the faxed results without a followup which isn't for a while. Waiting! It's horrible but will be so worth it if the results are favorable. I just keep hoping it's something minor and very treatable. ;)

Hugs,

Krista

Hi Krista,
Nope. I didn't get to speak with Dr. Potter, either. But I'm so glad I made the trip and got the MRI done! Yes, I paid the $75 and had a copy of the report mailed to me. Did you request a copy mailed to you? Which one of your doctors wrote the script? When's you next appointment?
I'm with you in hoping it's something minor and treatable! But at least you'll have some kind of answer and that in itself can be a huge relief!

Karyn,

Yes, I did request a copy of the report to be mailed to me. It was my primary care doctor who wrote the script and although he is wonderful and suggested that it may indeed be the pudendal nerve because he knew that it innervated that area, he really has no knowledge of the condition. Nonetheless, he is very compassionate and willing to try anything so that helps. At least he doesn't make me feel like it's all in my head.

Hugs,
