hi
i had a pudendal nerve block 5 weeks ago with a steroid and i wondered how long the steroid stayed in the system as i am having anxiety symptoms and it also seems as though i am having a fibromyalgia flare. i just wondered if the steroid has upset my hormone balance temporarily and if anyone else has had this problem

I do not know how long the steroids will stay in your system, but steroids can cause all sorts of side effects. I would think the steroid would help fibro? I do not know enough about the condition though to state that. I know steroids are used a lot in many autoimmune conditions and are fairly helpful at calming symptoms. I would wonder if the anxiety may be causing a flare in your fibromyalgia (from the stress.) In autoimmune conditions stressful events/surgery, etc. can cause a flare/relapse of symptoms. Stress is not a friend of mine for sure. I am sorry you are having such a rough time. Things should even out soon, if not, I would call your doctor. Take Care!

thanks for that, i have just had my hormone levels tested and they are no different to normal, so not sure now what is causing the problem, i know i am a bit stressed worrying about the looming surgery and maybe this has caused some of the problem, i really dont know as i cant think of anything else apart from the hormone in the nerve block that i have taken different

Meliora's theory makes sense to me too, anyone could become more tense in your situation I would think Andrea, although admittedly I know very little about fibromyalgia to comment on that problem.
I would try some pain management if possible, relaxation techniques may do the world of good right now.
Take care,
Helen
