Neuroprotectice Wrap - Abstract

I know in the past we have debated the use of Neurowrap during PN decompression surgery. This debate started due to Dr. Dellon's dislike of Neurowrap and Dr. Hibner's use of it. I know it's been a while since this subject has been discussed and I did't know if anyone was still seeking information on this subject. Recently, there was a post about a physician Dr. Parekattil in FL who treats groin pain in men (sorry, but can't remember who started the thread so please don't be upset for not naming you). I contacted him to see if they also treat women since the website focused on men. I got a response that day from Dr. Parekattil indicating they do and that they would email me information. The next day I received an email from his secretary with several of Dr. Parekattil publications/abstracts. This is one of his abstracts. This is a similar product to what Dr. Hibner uses.

Thanks very much for the abstract, NYT. I've often wondered about the frequency of neurowrap complications. As with any man made product; even derived from natural substances, defects are possible.

Hi NYT,
I started the thread and have remained in contact with. Dr. Parekattil but haven't yet gone to see him. Since the Axium neurostimulator I am trying isn't really helping, I will likely go this summer. I am at the 3 month endpoint of that clinical trial and am debating having the device removed. I cannot have any more MRIs with it inside me and the longer I wait, the more tissue will form around the implanted leads/wires.
I see Dr. Potter's MRI confirmed entrapments, I presume of both of your pudendal nerves based upon you showing having had pudendal decompression/release surgery dome on both sides by Dr. Hibner. My understanding is he always uses transgluteal approach.
What percent, if any, of pain improvement have you gotten from Hibner's surgeries?

The percent question is hard to answer. I have a couple of things that were completely gone immediately after surgery. Some things are exactly the same. One problem I had got slightly worse and one new problem. I am glad I had the surgery because the things that did get better were worth it. My sitting time is no different since the surgeries.

Dr. Conway did use Seprafilm on my surgery in May of 2012. I just looked it up in my copy of the OR notes.
However, I had the ligaments directly scarring onto the nerve. So I cant say if it is routine for him but he has used it.

Did you go see Dr. Parekattil?
I am hoping to go this summer.
