Hi All,
I am new to this site but not new in PN community. My PN journey started from having sacral pain and it quickly went down to my sit bone areas in 11/04 (diffuse burning pains in my butts). After a few months, pains spread to my genital areas. Dr. Weiss said i have PNE. Another doc said my pain distribution was outside of the PN territory. Dr. Filler said something else. My pains are gradually getting worse over the years. I will need to do something about it. I have ignore it for the past several years as i was dealing with RSD which caused by a painful IV during a S3 injection.
My physical rehab doc wrote me a prescription for Potter's MRI. He wrote pelvic MRI with special attention to PN and its branches per my request. Will this MRI visualize all problem nerves, muscles and ligaments in the pelvic or the doc who wrote the prescription need to be even more specifics. I suspect there are other nerves besides the PN involved in my case but i don't know which one. I want to sure i can get the most out of this MRI since i need to fly out from the West coast.

Dr. Potter will look at the other nerves in the pelvis ie ilioinguional, obturator, genitofemoral. She looks to see if the sciatic nerve runs through the middle of the piriformis muscle and she will look to see if you have tendinosis. She really does a complete read of the MRI looking for any causes. If there is something specific you have in mind just let the technician know and he will pass it on. Also, once you get your MRI results if there was something you were interested in that she didn't mention then either you or the dr. can request her to relook and she will. I know with mine she didn't look at the obturator nerve and I sent her an email (someone else answers for her) and she reread the MRI and updated the pathology found on my obturator nerve.
