My Dr. is having me come in to change my pain meds. I currently take 7.5 hydrocodone ...6-7 pills a day. I think it used to be /500 but she already changed it to /325. Her nurses message said she wants to talk to me about taking something more long term (maybe long lasting...I can't remember). does anyone know what that means...I would like to be informed when I go in....I currently take 2mg tiazadine at night and 300 mg gabapentin (900 mg 3 x day). They also just started me on .75 wellbutrin yesterday.
I feel like I take too much medication as it is....although the alternative is pain that would keep me in bed all day....I'm just thinking the pain med I take now seems like a lot...any thoughts on why she would want to change it or what to?

I also am thinking if she wants to do something else she may think I am going to be like this for a while??

Your doctor probably wants to switch to a time released opioid like Oxycontin. It is easier to tolerate as you don't get the highs and the lows. Some say that it is more difficult to abuse so it may be that your physician is more comfortable prescribing you a time released opioid.
