Applying for Blue badge

Post by Lex1 »

Hi everyone

I have had worsening mobility for 3-4 months, somedays I can walk 5-10 mins, but slowly and in a great deal of pain.
Waiting for CT guided injection.
How many of you have a blue badge?

My GP will support my application however sticking point is question ' is your condition permenant?' Not sure how to answere that, had it for 12 months, gather injections rarely cure PN. Is it permenant? What do I class as permenant? Do I wait until post injections?

I could use it ASAP, struggle to get out and about!

Can anyone help?

I have a blue badge, it makes a real difference to me. With your level of mobility, you should definitely have one. When they ask about how far you can walk, remember they are asking how far can you walk without pain.

I think that what they are trying to find out with that question about permanence is whether you have a temporary problem like a broken leg which would be expected to heal within a number of weeks - in which case you wouldn't qualify for a badge - or whether you have a condition that you are stuck with - for the time being, at least.

In your place I would just say 'yes' - the badge is for a number of years, it is not forever, after all. If you reach the point where you no longer need it, then you can always return it. :D

Thanks Calluna

I will try, my GP is supportive but I know there has been a recent clampdown on applications. The last time he answered duration more than 12 months they bounced it back!
As you say they are only for 3 years anyhow and I could return it should things improve.
Just got my seatbelt exemption so will be able to get out a bit more.
I am constantly in pain now even standing. It would help for sure
