Read this. It might not be the answer for all of us but maybe some of us.

That's by Deborah Metzger from 2004, I remember something about her on here before, I must have a look and see if I can find it.
That is an interesting article, I notice that she does mention PN as an alternate diagnosis.
Edited to add:
I've found that previous reference. You might want to read
this thread, in particular the post at the top of page 2 (scroll up). It is a matter of public record (I've done some looking up through the links given) that her license as a surgeon was revoked. She has now finished the term of probation and her license is current again.
So perhaps we need to read this article with an appropriate degree of scepticism -
here is a link to the original accusation made against this doctor, by the Medical Board of California.

Yikes! Thanks Calluna for bringing that to my attention. I guess it's back to the drawing board!

I think the scariest part is the accusations against Metzger ("the surgeries were unnecessary and poorly performed"). However, I do think that some of the information in the article is good. It's not unreasonable to think that a hernia can cause pelvic pain (been there, done that). But I don't think that I'd want my gynecologist operating on me for a hernia repair (any more than I'd want a general surgeon or hernia specialist doing my hysterectomy).
