This is from a post that Amy made on Tipna. She's not a member of this website, but she told me that when she got time to post about her recovery and surgery in Houston that it would be okay for me to copy it onto this website.

Greg
Hi everyone, I want to share my experience with going to Houston,Texas and having pudendal nerve entrapment surgery done by Dr. Ansell.

My surgery was done on my right side on Nov 16th. It has been almost two months and I am feeling already about 80% better!! I truly feel and know that Dr. Ansell, Greg, Celeste and this website saved my life. I started my symptoms eight years ago. Words cannot describe the living hell I lived in with this. I was misdiagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I did bladder DMSO treatments, stopped that after six treatments. I went to another urologist and had hydrodistention done and started doing other bladder treatments with heparin and three other medications.

I did the Dr. Wise program in California, crazy special diet with a herbal doctor in California. I had two doctors tell me they did not think it was IC. So after many tests I had partial hysterectomy done. I spent so much money and got to a point that I started to think I cannot do this anymore. I finally gave in and went to pain management specialist. I took vicodin for three years before finding this site and making that first phone consultation with Dr. Renney. I went out to Texas and had two nerve blocks done and had test done to measure how long it took my nerves to respond back after being shocked. This took two trips out to Houston. My first nerve block was done at the ishial spine. The pain went away for about two hours and then started creeping back. I was so happy, knowing finally this is the answer. Was so emotional to say the least. The nerve test done on the right side came back abnormal too. The second time to Texas, nerve block was done in in two places. This time also at the alcocks canal. I had NO pain for two hours and then pain slowly returned.

When I chose to have my surgery done, I looked intensively at all my options and chose the surgeon by the way he does the surgery. Dr. Ansell was amazing and the nurses said they get patients from all over the world. He told me that I was the perfect candidate for the surgery and that I was entrapped in two places. I was in pretty bad pain for about two weeks after surgery. I stayed on my vicodin and found that soft ice gel packs helped more than anything. I am no longer on vicodin and my six inch scar looks like a plastic surgeon did it! Not that I care about that.

I truly never thought this could go this well for me. I am so grateful and seeing the world without intense pain. If it was not for my four kids and husband I believe I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago.I just want everyone to know there is hope to get your life back!!

Best,

Amy
