Hi all
For the first time in ages I am breathing properly whilst reading medical information - the site has opened my eyes and made me feel, as many have said, that I am not losing what little sense I have left. After two years of indescribable pain in my lower RHQ, an unnecessary appendectomy ( LHS) and laparotomy I was diagnosed with Osteitis Pubis in early 2009. I was referred for a depomedrone injection into the pubic symphysis, as a needle phobic I was fine once the procedure was carried out under nitrous oxide. However, on reaching the OR the 'specialists' neglected to tell me they had no inhalant sedation, and proceeded to strap me to a table and inject me with a bolus of remifentanil against my express wishes and requests to be freed. When unconscious I underwent an adductor tendon insertion in my mid rhs labia - a procedure I knew nothing about. Apart from injection site bleeding and increased post-operative pain, with new loci of pain in my pubic area I now have a true reason to be needle and medic phobic. I have declared myself - and my pain management specialist thankfully agrees - a no operation/procedure zone, and as I now have a paradoxical meds reaction, I can take no analgesic either, just for laughs...not!

But that’s not all! A few months ago in desperation I sought help from several other specialists and I have now been told that I never had Osteits Pubis, nor a problem with my adductor tendon, in fact I have Pudendal Neuralgia - however I will not consent to any further tests as it will, in effect, not improve my situation on increase my chances of treatment here in Ireland. Does anyone know if there is a link between and adductor tendon insertion and PNE? It makes logical and anatomical sense to me......so as well as a diagnosis I am searching for the trigger and am greatful for any help

Thanks in advance and congrats on a very human & honest site

Wow, that must have been a real shocker to wake up to discover you had a surgery your weren't expecting!

In 7 years of moderating the forum I don't recall ever reading of an adductor tendon insertion surgery being the cause of PNE but with that said, surgery in the pelvic region can be the cause of PNE so I think it's entirely possible. But you already had pain before your adductor tendon insertion surgery, right?

yes, there is a correlation somehow between the adductor and PN. Shawn on the forum has this. And I've been dry needled in the adductor by a PN-aware PT. I don't know the specifics, or the anatomy, but there is something to it.
