Hi,
i would like to know whether or not unitedhealthcare HMO covers the pudendal nerve decompression surgery. Does anyone on this forum had this insurance? Can you tell me the process and how this can be done?
Thanks.

Dr. Hibner does participate with my UnitedHealthCare but there are many different kinds of plans that are offered by UHC so whether he particpates in the HMO part you will need to call your insurance company and ask. I have UnitedHealthCare but not the HMO and my surgery was paid for. Your best bet is to call your insurance company and ask them if he is a participating provider and what the benefits will and will not cover. Dr. Hibner's secretary makes all the arrangements for the preauthorization for the surgery.

Every short term medical insurance plan is different, so it's hard to say if something would be covered or not. When you call your insurance company, make sure you ask if you have copays or coinsurance because that will make a big difference in how much you pay out of pocket if the doctor is in your network. If you have a hard time finding a doctor in your HMO plan, you can always try to get a PPO plan.
