This is so important for Everyone to please add any doctors you know of to this Ongoing List of Specific Names of Doctors Listed by State Familiar With Diagnosing & Treating Pudendal Neuralgia/PNE Listed By State-This does not mean they all do surgery for it. This is just a list of those familiar with how to Diagnose it with tests, clinical symptoms, exclusion of other causes, and treat it with medication and not meant to be a list of all doctors who treat it surgically, but rather ones who can at least diagnose it with tests, and help with medication management, which is so important. The important reason for this list is because there are few doctors familiar with PNE and how to diagnose PN/PNE with the correct tests and how to treat with medication in everyone's local area, and is important for most with PNE, until you are able to get in to see a PNE Specialist such as Michael Hibner or Dr. Dellon or other PNE specialist, most of whom are far away from most people and have to fly to see them and may have to wait months to get in to see them. Everyone should make an appointment with one of the best PNE Specialists listed on the home page of Pudendalhope at the following link http://www.pudendalhope.org/node/54 which Calluna, was nice to provide (Most of whom are Surgeons) and keep your appointment with them, but until you are able to get in to see them, you can get diagnosed and treated with medication by the following list of doctors. Some of them listed on here also do surgery for it. The purpose of this ongoing list is to help those who need help in their local area to find a doctor to help the get diagnosed by either a CAT Scan Guided Nerve Block, EMG, PNMLT, clinical symptoms, etc. This is not a complete list, but a list of ones I know are familiar with PNE and diagnosing it. Everybody, Please help me to add more doctors to this list, if you know of any for a fact who are familiar with PN/PNE and can diagnose it and help treat it with medication. You can also call their office first to confirm they can diagnose it yourselves before going. Everybody please help add other doctors in other states in the U.S. you know of familiar with how to diagnose and treat PN/PNE to this list to help everyone out if you know of any, by adding them to this thread here. This is so very important for everyone, and especially those who are new to PN/PNE or think they may have this condition.

It is also possible to get diagnosed and treated with medication and with a Pudendal Nerve Block Cat scan guided in your local area, most of the time, by finding a doctor in your area familiar with PN/PNE which is not easy to do unless you know how to do it. You can find one however, by going to the following website at http://www.amssm.org/Find-a-Doc.html and do a search for a local Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Doctor, while you are waiting possibly for months to get in to see one of the PNE specialists like Hibner, etc. You can search at this website by state, Just select search by state instead of last name and then enter your state abbreviation. Sports Medicine/Orthopedic doctors are highly trained on recognizing and treating PN/PNE , which is how I was diagnosed. They can also find other problems that may mimick or even cause PN/PNE such as SIJD and Piriformis Syndrome, Lower Back problems, etc. They are the the best besides a PNE specialist to treat and diagnose you with PNE/PN, and schedule a pudendal nerve block locally for you. You can also call 913-327-1415 to find one in your area you live. For more information on what Sports Medicine/Orthopedic doctor do go to http://cabarrusfamily.com/documents/Wha ... an_000.pdf You can also go to the International Pelvic Pain Society's website and search for providers there by state to try to find one. However you have to call their office of each doctor on this list before making an appointment, because not all doctors on the International Pelvic Pain Society's website can diagnose and treat it. So call each provider first, to see if they can diagnose and treat it. The website for the International Pelvic Pain Society to find a provider is http://www.pelvicpain.org/providers/find_provider.aspx You may also try to call urologists/Neurologists to see if they are familiar with it BEFORE making your appointment. Make sure you call the specific specialists doctor's office and ask if there are any doctors there who are familiar with PN/PNE in diagnosing or treating it before making your appointment. Good luck. One important thing is finding a doctor who understands PNE/PN and in my experience, unless you live near one of the PNE surgeons, this is one way of getting some kind of doctor close to you to understand your problem, get the diagnosis started, medication started, etc. I had to see 5 urologists, 2 gastroenterologists, 3 primary care doctors, 3 visits to the ER, neurologist, multiple primary care doctors, before finally my brother who is a doctor told me to go to a Sports Medicine/Orthopedic doctor where they diagnosed me on the spot from my symptoms and got me right away into doing a CAT scan guided Pudendal Nerve Block. Apparently PNE and PN is a lot of times a sports related injury such as from weight lifting, bicycling, falls, trauma, so Orthopedic/Sports Medicine Doctors know about PNE more than some specialists. There are other causes, such as from surgery, hysterectomy, etc, but besides those causes, sports related and trauma/injuries are another big cause of PN and PNE. Also, one more thing, I know a lot of people with PNE including myself who have urinary related or bowel related symptoms. You should of course see these specialists to rule out other causes, but if after all that you have no luck, and want to see if you do have PNE/PN, which most of you probably may have because you are on this site. Having said that, me and a lot of other people with this have urinary frequency/urgency problems. I have tried everything, and the only thing that helped me with this was Diazepam, which is a muscle relaxer. I have tried other ones, and they have not worked unfortunately. I also know a lot of people with PN/PNE who urinary problems and pain in the perineum, are helped with Diazepam, which relaxes your pelvic floor muscles and nerves. Some take it in suppository form and use it that way others take it orally, which is how I take it. This advice does not replace the advice of a doctor's opinion, and always consult your doctor about any medication and interactions, but I am just telling you what has worked for me and many others with PN/PNE that have urinary frequency/urgency problems from PN/PNE. There's Always Hope!

Re: Ongoing List of Doctors by State Who Diagnose/Treat PNE/
Yes, I was initially diagnosed and treated with medication by Dr. Rosenberg, and Dr. Kevin Burroughs in Concord, NC. They are both Sports Medicine (Orthopedic) Doctors and were able to order a CAT Scan guided Pudendal Nerve Block Test done for me 4 times. My diagnosis was made based on ruling out other problems such as Cystoscopy, etc and by clinical exam, along with the initial Cat Scan guided Pudendal Nerve block consisting of an anasthetic which took away my pain in the perineum and buttocks for 8 hours and gave temporrary pain relief from the steroid part of injection for 2 to 4 weeks each time. The name of the Interventional Radiologist, who works with them, and who does the CAT Scan guided Nerve Block Test, is named Dr. Daniel Stackhouse who is extremely talented and trained at UNC Chapel Hill. The first block was to diagnose me, and other two were to help reduce inflammation and help with pain until my pain from Pudendal Neuralgia got better, which never unfortunately did because I am entrapped and need surgery. The last block was ordered by Dr. Dellon to get done here, to confirm if my entrapment was on one or both sides. After that block, it was confirmed that I am entrapped on both sides. Dr. Robert Evans, is at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, is one of the top urologists in North Carolina, and is also member of the International Pelvic Pain Society, who I also saw for my urinary related problems from PNE, and he also diagnoses PNE, with CAT Scan guided Nerve Block tests and help with medication. Dr. Scott Ellis, is also familiar with how to diagnose PNE with ordering CAT Scan guided nerve block tests and treating with medication.

So when is YOUR surgery, and who are you having it with?shawnmellis wrote:I am entrapped and need surgery. The last block was ordered by Dr. Dellon to get done here, to confirm if my entrapment was on one or both sides. After that block, it was confirmed that I am entrapped on both sides.
PNE as a result of childbirth, 2002. Treatment by the Houston team, with neurosurgery by Dr. Ansell in 2004. My left side ST and SS ligaments were found to be grown together, encasing the pudendal nerve.
I am cured. I hope you will be, too.
There are no medical answers on the forum. Your only hope is to go to a doctor. I was very happy with the Houston team, which has treated the most PNE patients (well over 400), more than any other US provider.

Re: Ongoing List of Doctors by State Who Diagnose/Treat PNE/
Celeste, I am currently maxed out on credit cards, and financially hurt from all of this, and trying to get the money or a loan to get my surgery like a lot of people entrapped in the dorsal branch are also unfortunately. Currently only Dr. Dellon and Dr. Aszmann do the Pubic Ramus approach for the area I am entrapped at, the dorsal and perineal branch, and both are expensive for me. Hoping to one day get the money for it.

Re: Ongoing List of Doctors by State Who Diagnose/Treat PNE/
I'm going to see Dr Dellon. He also has a clinic in Nevada. I have massive rectal problems ,and i don't even have one because mine was removed because of diease. Nerves don't seem to understand that. So with no need of rectum or anus I asked if he could just eliminate that branch and he said he could. He is a neurologist so that would be a plus.....Robert
