Spoke with dr Conway, pudendal nereualgia specialist in new hampshire, who said that some of his colleagues are finding that cam lesions, basically arthritic changes I think, in the hip joints can produce pudendal neuralgia; and recommended my seeing a hip-orthopedist. I s anyone aware of this issue and/or has dealt with this, thanks, pdn

Pdn,

Many of us have hip pathologies. Search for posts under "Hip pain". Surfsup recently had hip surgery, as did Pomegranate. However, I don't think that their PN pain was resolved by their surgeries.

I have hip pathology in both hips. In the right hip, I have a labral tear, and in the left, I have calcified tendinitus of the gluteus minimus. I recently saw a hip surgeon who assured me that he could do absolutely nothing to resolve my PN pain; only the hip pain.

If you have hip pain, I urge you to get an MRI of both hips to see what's going on.

hi, thanks for the reply. dr. Conway whom I referred to in earlier post said that some of his colleagues in France were giving cortisone injections for cam lesions and were seeing relief of pudendal nerve symptoms in some cases. he recommended that I get a hip MRI and consult with orthopod, pdn

That sounds like a good plan. If an MRI does show up any hip problems a cortisone injection seems reasonable. Guess it will depend on the hip causing any PN or the other way around. It's all a bit of an experiment to see what will work.
Did Dr. Conway say which Dr's in France were doing this procedure or is it just standard practice? I forget if Dr. Conway took his lead from Nantes or Provence

It does help to take your own advice sometimes. There IS such a wealth of info on the home pages DUH!! http://www.pudendalhope.org/node/58#Conway

I very much hope it works for you, let us know. That's another way how we can keep up to date with everything :)
Take care
Helen
