Do I still need PT?

Okay, now that my Potter MRI shows an entrapment, is it necessary to continue PT? I'd like to decrease the amount of appointments I have (I'm sooooo sick of all of them) and I don't see how it will help in any way. My MD seems to think I should continue it.
Any thoughts?

Hi Cari,
Blocks numbed pain area. Potter MRI showed entrapment. Forget the PT. If it hasn't helped by now it's unlikely to make a difference. See if you can tolerate Lyrica instead of neurontin- works faster with less side effects and more pain relief (at least for me). Take an extra percocet (or two). Give Cymbalta a shot. I'm not a doctor- just an x-ray tech. Just my opinion. As HM said so eloquently in her post- this won't last forever and you'll get better at dealing with it. Hang in there.

thank you, Don. I could not tolerate Lyrica, got the double vision on a small dose. Am doing better with the Neurontin. Am only at 400 mg/day and working my way up.
I agree, the PT is just costing me money and I can't imagine what she can possibly do for me at this point.

Cari,
Do give yourself lots of time between increasing your doses of Neurontin. I gave myself a week (or two, I don't remember) before upping it, 300 mg. each time. Then I decreased it very slowly and stopped it altogether when it didn't work for my pain.

I did the same thing Cari, 300 mg increase at a time and over 5-7 days. As for PT, I am so over it. It's ridiculously expensive and other than the fact that I like my PT and enjoy talking with her it's probably a waste. Probably going to be quitting soon myself.

I took it even slower, steps of 100mg at weekly intervals. And I too had some vision problems with pregabalin/Lyrica early on, frightening at the time but they passed.

Dr. Antalok told me that he knew of no one that was helped with pn pain from PT...If It was me , I would quit... maybe others have different opinions.. If it is trapped it is trapped...

Cari,
My PT even agreed she could not help until 1month after surgery, they are now helping in my recovery. Give yourself the break. I also took the 100mg route to up my way on gabapentin/neurontin. Good luck

My dr (urologist, website specifically says she treats pudendal neuralgia patients)....says to keep going with the PT. I can't believe it. The drive is 40 minutes, bumpy, and it's $100. Yes, she is out of network. But she is the only PT with manipulation background in my small town.
I guess I'll keep trudging out there, so I know I am doing everything remotely possible to get some relief.
