Have varies accounts...

Post by JAT »

of whether one is able to procure disability or not and I'm, to say the least, confused. My husband and I are self-employed, have a 2-group insurance policy (you probably can imagine what our premiums are!). One account from a friend of mine (different state - Illinois, USA), was not able to get disability as she was informed by her attorney that in so many words one must be destitute in order to receive disability - she was told that she has "too much money." She was no longer able to work due to her "disability" and due to the above she was declined. Then there are those who seem to obtain disability without much of a hassle. I relayed the latter to my friend who indicated that the individuals that finally got disability had to have lied. Another concern of mine is - and this is a "what if" - what is/would become of my husband's insurance via the 2-person "group" insurance through our company? I'm totally confused and worried. My livelihood depends upon my being able to sit, and for long periods of time. I'm my husband's partner in business (for nearly 30 years) requiring me to sit for hours on end, and to supplement that seasonal income (landscape contracting business), I've been a medical transcriptionist for 37 years, and again requiring me to sit for many, many hours. I cannot do this (sitting) any longer. Add insult to injury, I think there's a very real possibility that there's a sort of pain-head/gut response to what I'm experiencing, causing me to retch the event of which is increasing.

Can anyone help me sort through the conflict of information? Can anyone stear me in the right direction, or, is this issue a "lost cause?"
