ST/SS entrapment symptoms

Post by Faith »

Those who were found to have ST/SS PNE entrapment in surgery, what were your symptoms pre-op? Did you have sacral pain? Did you only have perineal pain? Where was your pain exactly? Just wondering if where the entrapment is correlates to the location of symptoms. I know it will be different for everyone, but it is interesting to think about.

Thanks!
-11/08 vulvodynia began around conception of first & only pregnancy
-3/10 sacral/sitting pain began after SIJD manipulation
-Progressive widespread pain- central sensitization
-PT, meds, injections, botox, ESWT = debilitated.
-5/12 Potter MRI - scarring of left ST, coccygeous & posterior alcock
-12/12 - left FAI/labral hip tear surgery
2014-2019 managed w/ gabapentin, massage, and lifestyle mod
2020 - big flare up

Faith, I was entrapped at the ligament grip, at alcock's, and at the falciform process. Since I was entrapped at 3 places on each side I guess it's hard to pinpoint what symptoms match which entrapment exactly but I'll post them anyway. I had perineal pain, buttock pain (piriformis), internal vaginal pain, urethral burning, persistent genital arousal syndrome, pain in my inner thighs (obturator internus), and some sacral pain (strained SI ligaments). I used to say it felt like I'd been hit with a baseball bat all through the pelvis. Does that match any of your symptoms?
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I would say my symptoms are mostly sacral pain, tailbone pain, pain inside the sit bones (what I think is obturator internus or the falciform process: I have trouble understanding the anatomy exactly). I of course have burning with intercourse, buttock pain (piriformis and my gluteus muscles are very tight), and rectal burning with BM's). Sometimes my pain is as high up as the lower SI joint area, but most of the time it is down at the ST ligament area. In the past I had a lot of vulvar burning (and sometimes still do), but I do think the neurontin has helped that...at least the superficial burning. I have widespread muscle tightness and pain around joints as well...I guess a result of central sensitization as I've been told.
