Sacrotuberous Trigger point injection

Post by Faith »

Has anyone ever had a TP injection into the sacrotuberous ligament (with steroid)? Obviously not done by a PT, but this topic is under PT techniques. If so, what was your experience?
-11/08 vulvodynia began around conception of first & only pregnancy
-3/10 sacral/sitting pain began after SIJD manipulation
-Progressive widespread pain- central sensitization
-PT, meds, injections, botox, ESWT = debilitated.
-5/12 Potter MRI - scarring of left ST, coccygeous & posterior alcock
-12/12 - left FAI/labral hip tear surgery
2014-2019 managed w/ gabapentin, massage, and lifestyle mod
2020 - big flare up

Never heard of anyone injecting the ST ligament. Heard of them doing muscles but not ligaments. How interesting.

I've heard of it into the SI ligament with good pain relief although I'm not sure how permanent the relief was. Have not heard of it into the ST.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Triiger point tratment in the muscle by physio

Post by Mahzi »

Hi Dr. beco has said that my pain coming back after 5 yrs of surgery could be due to trigger points in the muscle which can be treated by a good physiotherapist. anybody knows how it is done.

Mahzi, as this thread says, trigger point injections would not be done by a physiotherapist. Have you been told that you would be given these injections? Trigger point therapy is massage usually.

I just had 3 trigger point injections in my ligaments at the base of the pelvis today. I had another one about six weeks ago in one spot and the doctor decided to a few more since my pain was widespread. The sacrotuberous ligament is involved. The doctor is a urogynocologist. Ive had pain this area for six years, gone to many doctors and therapists. Nothing really worked to solve my pain while sitting.
Let's cross our fingers that this might do the trick!
Ps. New here today

2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

Thought I'd update on my progress. The three injections seem to be numbing the pain quite a bit. When I sit without my Chairpad I always use it starts hurting , But all in all I'm happy with the results. We'll see how long the relief is. Pain is such a weird thing isn't it? When you have it for so long You don't know what it's like without it.

Pattie Moe, how did they verify it was the ligament they injected? Did they do this under ultrasound? Did they decide to use steroid? I find this quite interesting. Will be something I will ask my pelvic pain specialist about.
