Doctors in Kansas City area?

Post by Montereybob »

Are there doctors within driving time from the Kansas City area who are experts in treating this disorder?

Here is a link to the list of Docs, not sure I would consider any to be within driving distance: http://www.pudendalhope.org/node/58 there is one PT listed for Kansas City, in my experience it is worth seeing a pelvic floor PT, because even if she can't help you chances are good that she will have knowledge of anyone in your area that can be of help. Here's the PT list: http://www.pudendalhope.org/node/63#KS
Not included on the pudendal Doc list is Dr. Frank Feigenbaum who is IN Kansas city, because he does not do pudendal nerve / pelvic floor specifically. However he is the best when it comes to tarlov cysts, which can cause some cases of PN (including mine), by putting pressure on the S2 nerve roots. just letting you know in case that happens to be your problem too, if so you are in the most convenient location possible. Tarlov cysts will appear on a pelvic MRI but are often ignored by radiologists in written reports, so if you have any imaging studies you can specifically request that the radiologist inform you if there are any tarlov cysts visible in the sacrum. Consider them a possibility if your symptoms are not purely pudendal but include sacral pain, pain in the feet and / or legs, bladder and bowel trouble, headaches.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.
