Back Pain

I was wondering if PNE can cause low back pain. Like most of you, I have had every MRI on my spine within the past year and they were all normal, but for the past 2 months or so I have been experiencing lower back pain. Now I am afraid the PNE caused a whole other issue. I am scheduled for surgery July 12th, in 5 days, but due to Boston doctors telling me not to do the surgery, I put it off. I am now afraid since I did not get the surgery earlier, I will now be left with yet another issue.
I really wish the doctors in Boston who are supposed to be the experts on this for this city would research more about PNE surgery before telling patients never to do it! Has anyone else developed back problems and if so, did they go away after the PN surgery?

Thank you for any input!
Annmarie

People often have more than one kind of problem. The reason to have PNE surgery is to try to get rid of pain when nothing else has worked. If you think there are still things you should try first, by all means exhaust them. I don't see how having the PNE surgery with Dr. Conway is going to make your back worse. It might help you get rid of PN pain, though.

Annmarie,

You'll find alot of information on this topic if you search above for "sacrum". Many of us experience sacrum pain, including me. It's where the pudendal nerve originates.

Annmarie, have you had your sacroiliac joint/ligaments checked by a good pelvic physical therapist? I had a lot of low back/sacral area pain due to SI ligament pain which caused pelvic misalignment and contributed to my PNE problems.

I had docs tell me I should not have had PNE surgery but I am so glad I did because I hate to think where I would be now if I had not. But I think you should try conservative non-invasive therapies first if possible and if you do decide to have surgery realize there are no guarantees and some people get worse from it. The statistics are that you will get better but you have to be mentally prepared for whatever happens.
