How's your butt?

Here we can discuss difficulties with comfort in sitting and normal living - cushions, bicycle seats, car seats, work stations etc.

How's your butt?

Post by Karyn »

Hi all,
As you know, I've recently had bilateral TG surgery. So, I'm hoping to hear from others who have had the TG approach (unilats & bilats) - How's your butt? I'm not asking about nerve pain, but the pain and discomfort from having your butt filleted. Does anyone feel like they're tearing something deep inside when attempting to sit or going up stairs, bending, lifting your leg too high or doing anything that uses those glute muscles? If so, how long does that last?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Mods - if this isn't in the right place, please feel free to move it! :D
Warm regards,
Karyn

My butt still hurts a little, but mainly superficially on the scar when I bend down (it pulls). I am 6 months out. Nothing deep inside. My sacrum/tailbone pain at the end of the day sucks though. I would say the deep pain lasted about 3 months for me. Hang in there. You are the WARRIOR QUEEN OF PNE! well, no more PNE!!

Karyn,

I've had five pelvic (abdominal) surgeries for endometriosis. The internal muscle pain takes a loooong time to heal, in my experience. I would say at least six months. The problem with the buttock muscles is that you feel the pain every time you take a step, whereas with the abs I only felt the pain when using those muscles. Hang in there, girl! The pain will subside over time.
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

You are only a short while after having TG surgery, I found it took a long time for those tweaking feelings to subside after this major surgery.
I still to this day nearly 7 years later feel that tightness around my scars and they itch like mad at times. The worst for me is going up any stairs as that really stretches things too much.....luckilly now I live in an apartment so have no stairs!!! Any surgical intrusion has to have a long lasting effect.

Hang in there and use ice on those scars when you have been stretching.
PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.
