Has anyone had SI joint or pelvic instability post laproscopic decompression surgery after having the SS ligament cut? I am scheduled for surgery in July and want to have all the information on this first. It seems that of the 3 doctors who perform this that I consulted with, none were able to point to any data or studies on this. So, that leaves me looking for anecdotal reports. Thank you for anyone who can help.

I have left SIJD and pretty significant scoliosis. I did not have the SS ligament completely severed, it was windowed down the middle for my transgluteal left sided pudendal nerve decompression. I have not had any significant pelvic instability more so than I did prior to surgery with this approach. I would avoid any surgery that completely splices any type of sacral ligament unless they’re replacing it or suturing it back together. Discuss with your potential surgeon their approach and what they do to preserve pelvic stability. Good luck!

I had my SS ligament cut and have had no problems at all with pelvic instability or my SI joint.

I had the SS (sacrospinous) ligament severed and it doesn't seem to have affected pelvic stability. I had the TIR approach to surgery where the ST (sacrotuberous) ligament isn't cut.

There are people who have reported on this forum that they had a stability problem after having the ST (sacrotuberous) ligament was cut during transgluteal (TG) surgery.
