Nerve damage after masturbation?

Hello everyone,

In 2017 I masturbated too rough by squeezing my penis tightly and pulling it to a downward angle. At one point I felt a sudden sharp pain and lost my erection. Immediately, my penis went almost completely numb, with only around 10% of sensation left. The glans is especially numb.

To this day, the numbness hasn't improved at all. I've also had difficulty getting an erection ever since. Sometimes I can barely even tell when I have an erection because it's so numb.

Is this pudendal neuralgia or something else? Is there any hope of recovering sensation or is it a lost cause?

Thank you.

Hi Hex,

Have you had any diagnostics or seen any physicians so far?

I don't know if a doctor would diagnose it as pudendal neuralgia, but since the dorsal penile branch of the pudendal nerve innervates the penis you certainly have to suspect that the pudendal nerve is involved. WebMD includes numbness in their definition of pudendal neuralgia. https://www.webmd.com/pain-management/p ... -neuralgia

Whether or not you can get sensation back with the right treatment is hard to say, but there are people who get sensation back years later after a nerve has been damaged. Are you able to consult with one of the PN doctors?

What kind of doctor would you recommend seeing? I’ve seen a couple useless urologists. Should I see a neurologist or what?

Also, I should mention I have other symptoms as well:
- ED
- overextended long flaccid penis
- urinary issues like urgency, frequency, and start/stop urinating
- occasional foreign body sensation in perineum
- occasional burning sensation at tip of penis and perineum
- tight pelvic floor

I wonder if the symptoms weren’t caused by the masturbation injury itself, but rather by the intense pelvic floor muscle spasm that occurred as a result.

Thanks.

There might be stuff you can do locally, but I think you would want to see a pudendal neuralgia specialist if you can. You could at least consult with one via email if you can't actually get to one right away, and see what they recommend you and and if there are any diagnostics they recommend your local physician should order. There are some posts by a guy with username "Staypositive" about his recent successful experience with Dr. Aszmann in Austria. I think his symptoms might have been somewhat similar to yours. You can search his posts using the search feature in the upper right corner.

Neurologists often don't know much about PN. A urologist might be more up on it, but it would depend on the urologist. Have you seen anyone yet about this? Typically, the sooner you get treatment for numbness the better. You could also get a pelvic floor PT evaluation just to see what the state of your pelvic floor is or if there are any musculoskeletal abnormalities that could be contributing to the problem.

A lady visited me a week ago, gave me oral. When I had cum, she just massage my penis a little aggressively, but no pain was felt. Immediately my penis got soft. I thought it was normal to get after ejaculation. But one week later, I still can't get erection, my penis is still soft as though I just ejaculated. Is this a nerve problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks

It could potentially be a nerve problem but you would need to have some diagnostics to figure out the underlying cause. Have you had an MRI yet to rule out anything obvious? That would be one place to start. You can see some other suggestions I made to someone earlier in this thread -- about contacting a pudendal neuralgia specialist.

You could also read this recent post and see what you think:

What caused my symptoms? No idea it happened all of a sudden and I had 3 complete months of no erectile function whatsoever 0% (even viagra didn't work). I saw a big improvement because I was coming from 0% function after my first MSC stem cell treatment, but shortly after my stem cell I also had dorsal decompression surgery because it was already booked and I seemed to be convinced this was the cause (nerve entrapment and the solution and the most logical and only explanation).

Some months after the dorsal surgery I started to feel as symptoms got a bit worse in the sense that I could get some erectile function but my penis felt dead.
I even went to Hibner early maybe March 2024 and I had some treatments: amniotic stem cells tiny injection of embryo fluid so these stem cells come from mothers whereas MSC are my own and i also did some pelvic floor therapy, etc.

I don't think the dorsal decompression in Vienna nor Hibners treatments in Arizona had any impact.

The way I feel and things have gone - I am quite certain all my improvement are thanks to the MSC stem cell treatments in Frankfurt.

My symptoms got actually a bit worse after Hibners treatment - but not because of his two treatments (injection and therapy) only because during a rectal exam I got some small injury that may have affected by pudendal nerves I think- I had a bit of blood for a week or so and i was having trouble pooping for month or two but later things then started to improve.

Overtime things have just kept improving in general - I do drink a lot of water, take various supplements such as magnesium, zinc, ashwagandha and turmeric (capsules) and exercise - I try to swim and play lots of racket sports.

I'm much much better.

Things have just gotten better over time - can't say I have any complaints anymore.

This summer 2024 I did a second round a stem cell treatment just because the first and previous treatment in the summer 2023 was so successful for me and this time I knew where to target the injections (pudendal nerve areas around my butt and lower back). I already had big improvement but just took this second treatment thinking it can't hurt.

I really have no issues with erections anymore.

Sensation isn't exactly the same but I have don't have issues with erections, I don't have issues with ejeculation and never had and sex is pleasurable.
