I would just like to know of peoples recovery after decompression. I am wanting to learn more on what to expect etc,,
I've noticed its a peripheral nerve with 3 functions, motor, sensory and autonomic and have been told it can take 2 years to fully recover.
I would appreciate as much information in regards to recovery of a complete decompression.

I never recovered. Tried decompression surgery twice. Re-entrapped with scar tissue. Much more research needs to be done before Doctors Butcher us up even more.

Jaxi were you re entrapped 2 times after 2 surgeries?

Originally entrapped by thickened ligament. Then became re-entrapped with scar tissue from the surgery.
No pain relief from either surgery very disappointing

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you mind if I ask, how did you come to realize that scar tissue re-entrapped the nerve? Do they diagnose it with imaging methods or was it based on experiencing symptoms and then subsequently confirmed during the latter surgeries?

I had surgery a few weeks ago and have been going through a massive flare-up since then. Can't help but worry at times if scar tissue will be a problem for me too.

I went to Dr Potter in New York and had her MRI that showed I was re-entrapped with scar tissue

Are you American? Was your surgery tg? Why did you choose aszman over bollens? Just curious. Not saying bollens is better I'm just curious.

I am in the US. Surgery done by Dr Ansell in Houston TX and the re-do by Hibner in Phoenix. Both were failures and very disappointed. Doctorless at this point.

I'm in north Europe. I chose Prof. Aszmann because I had heard plenty of good things about him. From what I had read about him, he is able to offer different surgical approaches depending on the suspected location of the entrapment, so I figured he's a good choice for me. He is also only a 2 hour flight from where I live.

And yes, my surgery was TG. This was recommended to me by the Professor based on my symptoms and MRI.
