I have update my weight graph, and it took extreme bravery too, I can tell you. I have gained a pound from my starting weight. So far this is a very clear fail for me.

Sorrreeee, Helen, I wasn't on the computer yesterday got too busy and then fell dead asleep on the couch at 6pm...so yes I WAS asleep! I'll go over now and check your progress and post mine, after my trash - talking I put back on a pound so I am 3 more down for this week, 5 total. I turn 40 today! I think turning 40 and weight loss might be mutually exclusive but we'll see.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Hey at least that is less years to live with pelvic pain syndrome if we never get it totally resolved. That's why I'm going out on a limb and looking at some high-risk treatments like the tarlov cyst surgery...not that I am feeling so awful day to day but c'mon, I started with neuropathy at around 34 years old and it seems like everyone in my family lives to be ancient...I do NOT wanna play this game for the next 40 or 50 or evn 60 years!

Happy Birthday Helen! I am turning 50 soon and I am battling with this weight loss. I am on weight watchers and following it to the T but the weight is not moving off. I am not giving up just yet becuase I want to at least win this battle since I have no control of the pain. Missy

Hey, it's me who's having the Bday!
Weight Watchers is basically like calorie counting except for they break it down into points instead of calories. I find the scale won't budge unless I add some kind of excercise into the mix, because without excercise to keep your metabolism burning, eating less just puts your body into starvation mode and it slows your metabolism to hold on to every bite. So if you can do any kind of excercise modified so as not to hurn you with the PNE, that will help enormously.
Also last time I was in weight loss mode I found that you can't say something doesn't work until you have tried it for a whole month, because us females "cycle" when it comes to water retention. Like maybe last week you lost no weight but if you hadn't been on WW you would have gained 2 pounds. then next week you will retain less water and lose 4 pounds instead of 2. After my daughter was born I lost 150 pounds in 14 months and kept a weekly diary, and there was a definite pattern, like week 1 lose a ton, week 2 lose a little, week 3 forget about it probably a pound will come back, and week 4 maybe lose what I gained on week 3 plus a pound or 2.
So don't give up!

Belated Birthday Greetings to HM.....I hope you enjoyed your big day!
As I am a little (or a lot) older than you I would like to be back in my early forties!!!!!! 50 is the next big one for me...arghhh.
I weighed in a little late this week and to my surprise I had lost 4 pounds....I cant believe it....lets hope its not all fluid and that I can sustain it.
Ive changed my eating habits by having more salads and not combining proteins with carbs at the same meal...and also drinking more water rather than cups of tea - I like my tea with two sugars so I suppose the calories are much less with plain water.....!!!
I have also resisted eating any biscuits with cups of tea.....and used fruit as a snack food.
I am having a dinner party for some friends on Friday so hopefully that wont affect the scales too much.....!!! Portion control I think is in order.
PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.

Well done Amanda! I have had a really BAD few days, naughty even    I realise that I eat when angry, sad, just plain fed up (literally) and PN'ed up. Have put that all behind me (OK in front and on the sides too UGH!) and will be an eating angel. Where did I put that halo?

Helen, sounds like you need an aggression device, and I don't mean a husband, something like one of those weighted blow-up punching bags that pops up each time you hit it, or an obie doll or something. Don't worry, not much competition here this week. Starvation can get me only so far and I don't know if it is these pills or just habit or what that is keeping me lying around like a neutered dog. I have got to change that up, I know myself well enough to know I will never make significant long term gains without excercise. I COMMIT TO IT TODAY!!! I WILL EXCERCISE FOR AT MINIMUM 1/2 HOUR! Now go pummel something non-living ;)
