Hi Amanda,
I e-mailed you a few months ago but I heard nothing back (it sounds like you've been busy....) Is it possible it went into your junk mail?
Hope all is well. I'm struggling after a few sensitive days.... who can I turn to in Ireland to get a definitive diagnosis??
Many thanks,
A.

You could try Maeve Whelan in Dublin. Or she might be able to direct you to someone closer to you. She trains other PT's.

Maeve Whelan
Specialist Chartered Physiotherapist
Milltown Physiotherapy Clinic
98 Lower Churchtown Road
Dublin 14
Phone: 01 296 0603
Fax: 01 296 0647
Email:maeve@pelvicphysiotherapy.com

I can't say for sure if she could definitively diagnose you but in my case it was a PT who figured out what I had, not a local doctor. Maeve might be able to direct you to a good doctor too.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Thanks for your reply Violet!
The irony is I am a physiotherapist myself and I have been attending Maeve for a year (I've just taken a 3 month break from therapy)....
I suppose I'm wondering who to attend from a medical point of view-any doctors who have an understanding of pudendal neuralgia and so on...
Many thanks.

Well, that's a tough question. My good friend Amanda who is president of HOPE went out of Ireland/UK for treatment as she has posted publicly. I have not heard of any PN specialists in Ireland and if Maeve and Amanda don't know of any specialists in Ireland it may be because there aren't any there who specialize in PN. My guess is you have heard of the team in Bristol and Dr. Baranowsky in the UK but if you are going to travel anyway, you might as well do research on who you feel is the best for your situation. It's definitely not an easy decision.

Sorry, I don't know of any but in the past, Maeve has taught other PT's how to treat PN so she might be able to refer you someone.
