Dr Meyers in Philly repaired 3 hernias for me. My adductor pain improved but my OI pain did not and he told me it probably wouldn't until I got my hip fixed.

Can you isolate what your hernia symptoms were? If i have one, i think it would be an inguinial hernia -- does dr Meyers do that kind? Can i call you to get more info on this? BTW, how did the hip surgery go?

Here is a recent NYT article on yoga leading to hip injuries in women, specifically femeroacetabular impingement (FAI):

I used to do alot of yoga. As I recall, Beverley, you did too. I'm sorry to read about your recent setback after your hip surgery.
Hugs to all.

In answer to your question, here's a link to the discussion regarding my experience with shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario. I found that it helped immensely, although other members (e.g. Faith) have not.

Thanks for the link to the article Lernica. I shared it on my facebook page so my friends on the PN pages there could read it too. I hope you are continuing to do well. My hip is healing and getting stronger, but my OI pain continues to bother me. It hasn't been quite 3 months yet, so I'm trying my best to be patient.
I will see Dr Coleman in a few weeks for my followup.

Yes, Lernica and everyone, I did a lot of yoga -- i was a yoga teacher for 14 years. I read that article in the NYTimes and thought it was excellent and this information really needs to get out there -- of course, no one in the yoga community wants to hear it. Anyway, i have no doubt that yoga caused my injury AND my recent flare, which, BTW is a lot better. I am having no pain - to a little pain and am improving. Linda -- it is normal for you to have OI pain after the surgery -- just keep doing PT. I wish i had done more -- i probably would not have flared.

Thanks for your reply Beverley. I so needed to hear that right now because I am so frustrated by the continued pain. I want to continue PT but mine feels like he's done all he can do. I'm planning to talk to Dr Coleman about it. There is a pool therapy place not far from me so I may try that when this PT gives up on me.

Linda: are you also do internal PT? i find that is really important to continue to do that. Pool sounds great -- try that! I have been doing tons of hip strengthening exercises and working with this guy that does something called NKT that helps you learn NOT to use your pelvic floor muscles when you are working out.

No Beverley I haven't been doing internal pelvic floor. But I plan to ask Dr Coleman about starting it when I see him on the 18th. I've seen some stuff about NKT and it looks interesting. Did you find this guy on your own or did Dr Coleman suggest him?
