Hello "Positivepoppy",

it was the same after my surgery. I also knew instantly that something was wrong.
I am so sorry for you that you are still in chronic pain after your decompression surgery!! Without knowing you, I think of you and your post a lot.
And with every day that passes I become aware that all of this might be the end of my life as I knew it. I wish I'd never had this hysterectomy. But it happened. It just happened.
Take care.

Hey sisters, its been awhile since I've been on here the depression has gotten the best of me lately. Ive been reading many post form others who are saying after being diagnosed with PNE its horrible & painful to have sex with their husband's. Has anyone found a relief in being able to have sex with their husband? I ask because im single and if their is absolutely no way that can happen without it being so horrible then I juat will never date again. It wouldn't be fare to him or me. Please let me know if someone has found relief. Thanks,
C C

Hi Cc,
Although I have not tried it my PTs have been able to work with patients to get them so sex was not painful. My gynecologist suggested it but I am still recovering from a fall in July and my primary care would like to work on my depression first. The PT did say it could take months and I think much of the work is for me to do the exercises when I am home and a bit is the PT. I trust the PTs and doctor so it must be possible. The PTs are PN aware PT.

I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. Wow, so many ladies suffering from PN/PNE pain after having hysterectomies.. This is swaying me away from having one. I have many female issues and thought a hysterectomy would be the answer to getting rid of them.. Now I'm not sure.

My complaints include long, heavy, painful periods (up to 2 weeks), caused by adenomyosis and a sub-septate uterus. I've got at least 3 fibroids (one intramural), and nabothian cysts. I have recurring yeast infections, likely caused by several of the medications I've been on (including Omega-3, nortriptylene and Metformin). I have PGAD & nerve pain. While I was able to 'work around' several of these problems until recently, sex has been next to non-existent the past couple of months.

My gyno has been less than helpful, pushing me to go onto low-dose birth control to help with the severity of my periods. I don't want to take them because of the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially in somebody my age (52). I also am overweight and suffer from prolonged depression, and weight gain/depression are some of the side effects of the Pill.. I'd considered endometrial ablation, but I've heard the method she uses is less than effective for a sub-septate uterus. I have no idea when menopause will happen. My Mom had a hysterectomy and her Mom never made it to menopause. I don't know whether to "put up" with all this crap and wait for 'nature' to take it's course, or go in for surgery, so I can eventually have a sex life again. It's not fair to my hubby to 'go without', but I don't want to pass along one of these yeast infections, and he doesn't want to hurt me when I have the nerve pain. I've stopped taking Omega-3, and I'll be done with my nortriptylene this week. Hoping the nasty side effects from that will disappear soon. :(

DoubleEdgeSword, what about a 2nd opinion about options? I wish I had done that. My case was no where as severe as yours when I had a hysterectomy. I had 3 fibroids and spotting between my periods. My gyn also recommended a hysterectomy and a bladder sling. If I had gotten a 2nd opinion I would have found out I never needed a hysterectomy nor a bladder sling. I would have gone a different route. What we woman go through :D !
2/07 LAVH and TOT 7/07 TOT right side removed 9/07 IL, IH and GN neuropathy 11/07 PN - Dr. Howard

What about considering a hysterectomy with Dr. Hibner if you decide to go that route?
PN started 2004 from fall. Surgery with Filler Nov. 2006, Dr. Campbell April 2007. Pain decreased by 85% in 2008 (rectal and sitting pain resolved completely), pain returned in 12/13. Pain reduced significantly beginning around 11/23.

nyt, thanks, I think I will be making an appointment in the next few weeks with my family doc. He used to be a gyno, but he's the one saying 'It's only a couple more years, just put up with it'.. Maybe that's what I'll decide in the end, but having a woman gyno that you can talk to (& who listens to your concerns) might make a difference too. My current gyno seems spread too thin.. Doesn't seem too 'plugged in' to us older gals.. Having a bladder sling doesn't sound like much fun at all.. I hope you're managing okay.

Double edge sword, this is cc. Sorry this is confusing but you need to get another doctor, the one you have does not have your best interests in mind. Try to go to one of the ones on this website or do some homework & call around & ask these doctors office if they deal with pudendal or pelvic floor issues. I wish I would have & there is no need to carry on in misery either. Good luck.

Thanks, Cc.. I haven't made an appointment yet but I'm hoping to find a gyno in my area that I can discuss things with. My mind is everywhere on this, & until I get some useful information, I haven't got a clue what I should do, if anything..
