What nerve blocks did she suggest, Griff? My experience with blocks/injections and central sensitization (what happens with neural plasticity) have not been good. I just end up with increased pain that takes weeks/months to die down and sometimes I never go back to the pre-injection pain level. Hopefully that won't be your case, but if you do have a heighted CNS I would question the use/effectiveness of nerve blocks.

I had a caudal epidural about a week ago. It didn't really help the pain much. I did it without sedation so it was a bit painful but that soreness has gone away. The next one he wants to do is a iliohypogastric and I'm pretty sure I will chose sedation for that. I really don't think I have neural plasticity because I can get relief from my pain by stretching or soaking in a warm bath. Hell, even the child's pose in yoga helps my pain. I just can't sit!!! or do a lot of bending and lifting, or climbing stairs. The last block will be to the obturator internus.

Hi griff,
I've never heard of a block to the OI, but I guess they can try to block anything :!: please post after you have the block to see if it has any effect. I wonder if this type of block would help with any sit bone area pain, tenderness??

Best of luck with both procedures.

Debbie

I think I'm done with the blocks for now. I've had increased inflammation and pain in other areas and I'm not sure if it is from the nerve block or the indomethacin I was taking. I've been having some pretty wicked diarrhea for over a week so I stopped the indomethacin on Saturday and saw my primary care doctor yesterday. My stomach and intestines are inflamed and mostly likely it's from the medicine but I had been taking it previously with no problem. Could be just a coincidence that I started having problems with it after the nerve block. I've also developed a muscle spasm in my upper back that was so bad that I didn't even notice my OI pain. Had a massage yesterday and it's feeling better today so OI muscle pain is back on as I suffer through my period that also started yesterday.

My next step right now is to see a orthopedic spine doctor. I have an appt for May 31st, and hopefully he will order an MRI of my spine and see if there are any issues there. I've pretty much decided that if there are no issues with my back, that I'm moving forward with the arthroscopic hip surgery to repair my labral tear.
